Repaints, Stands, Value, and more.

An Exclusive from  YodasNews and MasEFX

Q:: I'm trying to keep track of all the repaints that are already out or coming out. The ones I know of so far are Repaints of #6 Shocktrooper, #28 Sith Eyes Anakin, #33 Green Clone Commander, and #34 Black Clone Pilot. Are there others? I have heard rumors of repaints of the Tank Gunner and Bacara...?

A: You identified most of them. The #6 Clonetrooper has a red repainted variation and it is frequently called the "Shocktrooper". The #6 Clonetrooper also has a blue variations and that figure is shipping in the Kmart exclusive Jedi Temple Assault Battle Pack.

The #33 Clone Commander has a green variation and the #34 Clone Pilot has an all black variation. Anakin Skywalker (#28) is shipping again, and as you mentioned, he now has the yellow Sith eyes. While not a paint variation, the #2 Anakin Skywalker has several light saber variations. He originally shipped with a removable hand holding a red lightsaber, then a pinkish/red Count Dooku saber, and finally a red Count Dooku Saber.

Both the Tank Gunner and Commander Bacara are going to be repainted as well. The #34 AT-TE Tank Gunner is going to become #65 Tactical Ops Trooper. This will basically be a new blue repaint and a slight change in accessories. Commander Bacara (#49) will also have a new blue repaint and will ship in the Target exclusive Clone Attack on Coruscant Battle Pack.

Q: Do you have any suggestions on where to purchase loose figure stands? I want to display more figures loose, but they're constantly falling over. I want to get cool looking stands, but I don't want to pay a lot.

A: You can't go wrong with Real Stands. I prefer the clear two peg stands. You also get a pretty nice discount on larger orders. If you order 50 or more stands you get 50% off.

I use a Real Stand with the majority of my loose collection. Most Star Wars figures have a stance where both feet can be pushed into a peg.

I also like the Protech clear stand as well. This stand only has one peg and works well with figures that do not have a wide stance. I prefer to use these stands when a figure can't use two pegs. A quick search for "Star Wars Stands" on Ebay will turn up a lot of auctions offering these type of stands.

I hope that helps!

Q: How much is my [ insert various collectible here ] worth?

A: One of the most common questions I get is regarding how much a particular item is worth. The best way to figure that out is to look up some completed auctions for that item on Ebay. You will see exactly how much people are willing to spend on that item. At best, a price guide can only give you an estimate on what something is worth. I have seen a few figures valued at $45 in some of the monthly toy magazines that have sold for over $80 on Ebay. How can something be worth $45 when it sells for $80? The short answer is that an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Q: How come my local stores are not stocking Shocktroopers or any of the other new figures? I only see empty pegs at my area stores.

A: This one goes back to one of the questions I answered in the first Ask Da Binks. I received a lot of feedback from that answer. I heard stuff ranging from "Philadelphia does not get new figures anymore" to "My entire town only got one new case of figures." Pretty much all comments like that are wrong. More often than not, you are simply getting to the stores too late. These figures are selling well and selling out fast. You may not see new figures at retail but the guy who got there earlier did. The Shocktrooper is shipping at one per case in some assortments. You can see how this figure can disappear fast. Odds are, if you see empty pegs, it is because everything sold before you got there.

Q: Any news or updates on the Early Bird Kit from Midnight Madness?

A: Perfectly timed question. Hasbro recently updated their website and revealed some details regarding the Early Bird Kit. These are set to ship in early November. For those who were wondering, the set will include Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. It is not too late to get one either. You can send in for one until late November.

Weesa Taking Over

The BWO reference above does not come directly from the guys below, but if you were playing six degrees of Kevin Bacon, you would only be one degree off. The ten aceface "devious points" are still unclaimed.

Cheap plug alert: If you are so inclined, pick up a copy of Public Enemy's Power to the People and the Beats. Awesome Greatest Hits Album.

Shocktroopers are coming and going really fast. They are mostly showing up at Walmarts with a few KB Toys findings coming in. You can send your questions to AskDaBinks@aol.com. See ya.
