A long time ago, in an
America that now seems far, far away, George Lucas first hurled filmgoers
into hyperspace and introduced the noisy, flashy galaxyscape of "Star
Wars." The 1977 movie depicted a Wild West in outer
space, where the good guys dressed like futuristic pirates.
Now, 30 years later, designer Marc Ecko, a fan of Lucas and the "Star
Wars" empire since childhood, has created a limited-edition collection
of "Star Wars"-inspired urban streetwear for men, under license
from Lucasfilm Ltd.
"What's not to love about 'Star Wars'? " says Ecko. "The
story . . . the imagery . . . the nostalgia. This collection is about
taking all of those elements and adding our unique twist to create
something that can only be described as 'geek chic.' "
Instead of resembling the flowing garments and billowy tunics worn
in the early "Star Wars" movies, however, Ecko's line is
hip, modern menswear from his Cut & Sew label.
Ecko created a variety of T-shirts, hoodies and knits decorated
with iconic "Star Wars" images mixed with his own edgy,
street-culture interpretations. The designs range from all-over prints
to head shots
of individual characters that were created with colored rhinestones,
beads, studs or embroidery.
Picture a would-be bounty hunter in a Boba "Fett for Real" sweatshirt,
or a "StoneTroopers" T-shirt that honors the big, bad commando
in white beadwork and stones. The "Hoth" parka wouldn't look
out of place on the ice planet.
The line will be sold in select
Macy's stores, Macys.com, Marc Ecko Cut & Sew stores and Against
All Odds.

South Wales-based DJ Keltech chats about why the dance floor always
goes wild for "The Imperial March" and how Darth Vader keeps
the dark side of drum and bass going strong.
How has Star Wars influenced your music at all -- such as the DJ Keltech
Strike Back scratch CD and the video of you as Darth Vader?
I owe a lot to the popularity of Star Wars! In 2005, I entered
the World DMC Championship heats -- a DJ competition -- in the UK.
Being
a huge fan of "The Imperial March" music and having the records
for many years I decided to see if I could come up with a mix using
the tune and a nice hip hop beat. The night at the regional final of
the DMC competition as part of my routine I dropped the Vader mix.
The crowd went berzerk! They absolutely loved it. That night when I
got home still buzzing at the crowd reaction, I thought of a way I
could build on the idea. Being a creative person and always up for
a laugh I decided to buy a cheap Darth Vader suit, video the routine
in my bedroom and put the video on my website, DJkeltech.com.
The next thing I know I'm getting thousands of hits and people are
emailing the video to friends! I couldn't believe how popular the
video was becoming; I was seeing it posted on websites worldwide.
It was even passed on to Msn.com who put a feature on their front
page! A few weeks passed with the video snow balling in popularity,
and then I got an email from a TV company in Belgium asking if I
would come over to their studios and perform the Darth Vader routine
live on TV.
I couldn't believe my luck! All I've ever wanted was to make a name
for myself as a creative person, be it as a music producer or a turntablist.
It's amazing that this little video dressed up as Darth Vader mixing
up his theme tune got my name out there on a global scale. It's clear
that the popularity of Star Wars helped a lot to the video's popularity
as people from all generations know the characters and the music. I
think it was also a combination of sheer fluke and good timing, or
maybe a little help from the dark side?
Pete at the ThePrivateUniverse e-mailed
us to let us know of a very interesting newspost they just put up which
appears to be a listing of the 2008 Hasbro Products, complete
with release dates and line names, many of which have been floating
around the web the last few weeks as rumored for the 08 line. Click
right here to read all the
Star Wars goodies as well as many others (like Indiana Jones, Marvel
and Transformers).
Thanks for the heads up Pete!

Licensing Teams With Hasbro and eFX...
Lucas Licensing Teams With Hasbro and eFX to Bring High-End Star
Wars Collectibles to Fans.
New Agreements Begin This Month for Collectible Prop Replicas, Vehicles
and Popular Electronic Lightsabers
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Star Wars fans and collectors will
find new lines of collectibles from Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS) and newcomer
eFX in 2008, it was announced today by Lucas Licensing, a division
of Lucasfilm Ltd.
Hasbro, Lucas Licensing’s master Star Wars toy and game licensee,
will assume the design and production of the high-end, collectible
electronic lightsabers line, called “Force FX” Lightsabers,
which was previously made by Master Replicas.
Hasbro’s Force FX lightsaber line will debut in the spring
and continues the remarkable popularity of electronic replica lightsabers
among Star Wars enthusiasts. The line will feature replicas of the
iconic weapons used by Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi,
Darth Maul and Yoda.
Newly formed eFX will develop, manufacture and distribute collectible,
limited-edition replicas of both full-sized and scaled props; studio-
and reduced-scale vehicles and ships; full-sized helmets; and high-end,
die-cast vehicles and ships that encompass the entire Star Wars universe.
“Working with both Hasbro and eFX allows us to bring Star Wars
fans some of the best collectibles we have ever offered,” said
Howard Roffman, President of Lucas Licensing. “These are incredibly
creative, innovative companies with a real passion for Star Wars, and
we think it’s going to show in the products they offer.”
Hasbro expects the first Force FX lightsabers to be available in the
spring, while eFX plans to unveil its first products at Comic Con International
in San Diego in July.
At a Las Vegas-held press event this week, third-party publisher Namco
showed off a playable build of the anticipated 3D fighter sequel Soulcalibur
IV. Press gathered at club Blush in the illustrious Wynn hotel (a resort
that houses its very own Ferrari dealership) for the festivities, which
included everything from jumping dance music and a full bar to a presentation
of the much-hyped game itself. Naturally, IGN's own editors took a
break from CES 2008 coverage to stop in and see the new fighter, whose
cast of blade-wielding brawlers now features such stars as -- are you
ready? -- Yoda and Darth Vader from a galaxy far, far away. You just
pre-ordered, didn't you?
The Soulcalibur Galactic Battle serves as the means to introduce
both Yoda and Darth Vader into the roster. A separate montage video
built
up to the appearance of the major characters. "From all over the
world they come in search of vengeance, honor, salvation," a voice-over
announced during a selection of different clips from the game. "Driven
by the desire to wield the soul swords. But the swords may have met
their match." At this point in the video, the screen faded to
black and we could only hear Darth Vader's trademark breathing. Then,
both new fighters were shown for the first time and looking spectacular.
Attendees on-hand for the event erupted into applause. At the same
time, actors dressed in Stormtrooper outfits busted in through the
door, led by Darth Vader himself.

AT-TE Tank Gunner Mini Bust Accessory Packs Arrive!
The AT-TE Tank Gunner Mini Bust Accessory Pack for Gentle
Giant's Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Clone Trooper Mini Bust
are now arriving. Check out the in hand pictures below thanks to LaMelnik!
JACK BLACK is scared he is going to end up facing GEORGE LUCAS
in court - after writing a song about STAR WARS. The actor is currently
working on his band Tenacious D's new album - and the first song is
titled Death Star, a feature of Lucas' sci-fi series. Lucas is famously
protective of the movies - and Black is waiting for the lawsuit to
arrive. He says, "We have a new song called Death Star and hopefully
George Lucas will not sue us. We just need about 13 more songs to go
with Death Star so I'm thinking the CD is gonna come out in the tens,
2010."
Although there’s been no official announcement yet, it appears
that this year’s Star Wars Weekends will again take place in
June. And the Florida heat at that time of year has many Star Wars fans
on message boards all hot and bothered and openly critical of the scheduling.
Whether you live here or just visit, you know how hot it can be in
Florida in June. Evidently, June 6-29 will be the dates that most likely
will be announced later, so it's the full month of heat, humidity and
more heat. Oh, and rain, too, probably.
It will be interesting to later learn how that date will or won't
affect the gate numbers. Does anyone here care much whether it’s
May or June when you don your 20-lb. Stormtrooper outfit?
Legendary Pink Dots vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter Edward Ka-Spel
talks about his love of sci-fi and fantasy themes the their music and
why a certain astromech droid would be welcome to join the band when
he's done hanging out with C-3PO.

ideas is to give collectors more opportunities to get the helmet. According
to
Mike "We
have always been about the collector and our customers know that. With

we
have had we
always try
to make sure the majority of them get in the hands of the collectors.
We

As the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars saga slowly
recedes into history with the arrival of 2008, the new year actually
marks the 30th anniversary of Star Wars for other countries around
the world, including Japan. In an age when films are released internationally
within weeks or days of each other, it's hard to believe A New Hope
was not unveiled in the Land of the Rising Sun until July of 1978,
over a year after its U.S. debut.
So, in celebration of Japan's approaching Star Wars anniversary, and
to keep the festive momentum of 2007 rolling, we thought we'd begin
the new year sharing the work of one of Japan's most prolific and accomplished
Star Wars illustrators, Noriyoshi Ohrai.
Now Ohrai is something of an enigma -- information about the artist
is elusive at best, and from what we've gathered from friends in Japan,
very little information has been published about him. No matter --
we can let his work speak for itself, and perhaps offer a few hints
on where aficionados might uncover some of these lost gems from Japan.

STAR WARS BATTLE PACKS 2008: We have

Mygeeto battle packs listed on the link above
A small group of friends in England has made video
spoofs of two "Star Wars" films for less than $6,000, The
Telegraph reported Friday.
The eight-member team that comprises Backyard Productions used household
objects, toys and computers to create its own versions of the sci-fi
blockbusters.
Trailers for "The Empire Strikes Backyard" and "Star
Wars The Emperor's New Clones" can be viewed on YouTube.
"We have got bubble wrap on the ceiling, we've got bottle tops
and yogurt pots on the walls along with tubes from the center of rolls
of carpets," Darren Scales, co-founder of Backyard Productions,
told the newspaper.
"The blasters are water pistols, we just stuck a few bits of
lids on, add a bit of spray paint and then you have a blasterm" he
said. "You take a hard hat, put an Imperial sticker on it and
suddenly it's an Imperial work helmet for someone building the Death
Star -- it's not rocket science. It's the same with the light sabres.
Up close they look awful, but you put a stick in it, you hold it and
on screen you can't tell the difference."
New Star Wars game coming to Nokia's N-Gage gaming platform
in 2008
The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader's 'secret apprentice'
and apparently unveils new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy.
The game is set between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
The game, which is being developed by Universimo, uses cell technology
which, according to Nokia, lets the player harness the Force while
assisting Darth Vader in his quest to rid the world of Jedi.
Nokia says the game will provide players with community features including
tournaments, score uploads and downloadable content through N-Gage
Arena.
Yodasnews.com is very excited to be breaking this exciting news exclusively

As the Clone Wars raced toward its tumultuous conclusion, Jedi Knights,
fighting alongside battalions of Clone Troopers are spread throughout
the galaxy engaging the massive droid armies of General Grievous and
the Separatists.
This Elite unit of Clone Troopers are fully encased in a Black Stygian-Triprismatic
Polymer Armor with their faces concealed behind an Orange, T-shaped
Visor. ThisDistinctive Armor had increased Sensor Stealth capabilities
which allowed them to move about undetected, working in the shadow
of the 212th Attack Battalion on Utapau. As with all of the clone units
throughout the galaxy, their allegiance changes when Chancellor Palpatine
seizes power and enacts Order 66, outlawing the Jedi and declaring
them the enemy of the new Galactic Empire.
Crafted from quality materials, and using the original Ilm digital
character files from the Lucasfilm archives, Master Replicas is proud

Joel "Owen
Lars" Edgerton Signing!
Wattographs is pleased to announce the first-ever private signing
with Joel "Owen Lars" Edgerton, from Attack of the Clones
and Revenge of the Sith. Joel will sign officially-licensed photos
and fans' personal items in this rare autograph opportunity. He has
only ever autographed once before: he signed cards which were inserted
randomly in packs of Topps Trading Cards’ Attack of the Clones
card set. He has never done a private signing, otherwise.
Edgerton is quite famous in his native Australia, most notably for
his character "Will" on the television show The Secret Life
of Us. He has recently been noted for his role in the 2005 comedy Kinky
Boots and is currently working on three films which are in post-production.
Joel's brother Nash was also the stunt double for Ewan McGregor in
Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
We're also further pleased to announce that Joel is donating his entire
signing fee to the Sydney Children's Hospital. Wattographs salutes
this gesture and will also donate US$5.00 from every item sold to the
Sydney Children's Hospital, as well. We think this is an inspiring
way for fans to get autographs of Joel and do some good for sick children
as well.
There have been some new Star Wars additions to the GentleGiantCollectors.com Image
Gallery, this time around they add the Dengar and both versions of
the World Tour Exclusive Bust Ups for Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in

2007 was the 30th anniversary of Star Wars and an expensive year for
many, many collectors. Throw in the end of the Master Replicas and
it was a very crazy year, but as a result many collectors are vowing
to change their collecting habits in 2008. Star Wars Action News put
out the call for listeners to call in with their collecting resolutions
for 2008 and many people called in. We play those resolutions and next
year we'll check in with these callers to see how they did.
Also this week we look at the ploethera of 3.75" exclusives Target
put out over the holiday season. All were repaints, but were they worth
it? Arnie and Marjorie review them this week.
Christine Hewett (who played Shada D'ukal, the character
impersonating Brea Tonnika) in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
passed away on September 17, 2007 after a long battle with cancer.
Her last signing was this past summer at Celebration Europe. As we
move into 2008 we wanted to take a moment to remember Christine again
as we looked back on 2007 in the Star Wars world. May she rest in
peace.

First
Look at Clone Wars Packaging!
Eurobricks.com has
the first look at some preliminary pictures of two upcoming Lego sets
from The Clone Wars. The sets are slated to come out late
2008. Click the image below for more info:
We're not usually the types to keep up with the latest trends in
the fashion world—OK, Project Runway is a pretty good show—but
we dig the work of Nicolas Ghesquière. He imagines what the
future of fashion will look like and still manages to be respected
by the NYT. You'll see some plastic dresses and pants that look like
they're straight out of Mass Effect (hot). But our favorites were these
golden C-3PO leggings.
Star Wars come to life (without the annoying
robot attached). Unfortunately, at $159,000, we'll have to wait until
Ghesquière sells out to Target before we can score our wife
a pair. And until that day comes, at least you can enjoy the video.
(hit the jump for the full fashion show).
Thanks Suzanne, there is also
a video to watch as well. Interesting to say the least! Click
here to check it out.

Target Exclusives?
Rebelscum.com has boxed images of 2 rumored Target exclusives. A
Battle Rancor from The Force Unleashed and Aayla Securas Jedi Starfighter
from Star Wars Obsession. As Hasbro said last week, we need to take
rumors as just that, but these boxes images sure look like we will
be seeing these on the shelf in 2008. Click the image below for the
full story posted at Rebelscum.
When Master Replicas announced the planned Poker Set that was shown
at the summer cons would not be made, Star Wars and Poker fans were
disappointed but then CartaMundi stepped in and produced a very cool
Star
Wars illuminated Poker Chip Set.
This 200 piece Poker Chip set was rumored to be exclusive to The Sharper Image
Store but that was not true as we reported earlier in the year and
it is sold at other outlets.
The set can be purchase at The Sharper Image for $149.99, but
it can also be found at Poker and Playing Card Supply Stores as well
as some our sponsors for about $30
less.
The set includes a chrome
Death
Star dealer button and red, green and blue chips illustrated
by Russell Walks.
The set includes 100 blue (50 Luke Skywalker & 50 Obi-Wan Kenobi), 50 green (Yoda)
and 50 red (Darth Vader). These are a little lighter than a regular poker
chip at 10.2
grams but they still fell good enough to use in your home games. The chip are
translucent and when placed in the case, are
illuminated by 72 LEDs shining through colored lenses. It also includes 2 decks
of cards (blue and red).
If you are a poker player and love Star Wars, this is one set you
will enjoy. The presentation is very cool and is still functional
at the same time. The only thing it was missing in my opinion was a
handle on the case for easy travel (it's about 8 pounds) to your home game or just to show
off, but the double locking system works well to keep it all secure
and the "auto light up" feature when the case is opened also make up
for the lack of the handle.
Click below to see some in hand pictures,
also note that the light up feature looks more vibrant and bright in
person, it's one of those things that you can't really capture on film.

Sideshow PF Anakin!
Up for preorder right now is the Premium Format Anakin Skywalker.
Check it out here
It's not always about looking towards the twin sun horizon. Falling
between major Star Wars releases, 2007 turned into a year-long retrospective
and celebration of 30 years of Star Wars. It began quite literally
at the start of the year, and continued for 12 months, with major events,
collectibles, and tributes to that far-away galaxy drawing the attentions
of fans and, for a time, the rest of the world. Though there weren't
huge releases in terms of television and video games (aside from two
major peeks at what's to come in 2008), those can't be the sole yardsticks
to measure the magnitude of 2007. It was a busy, full year, and yet
once again, much like 2004, we're at the precipice of something much,
much bigger yet to come...
GentleGiantCollectors.com reports
in with a great new image of a new Gentle Giant Statue of Yoda
which is due out in July and will stand 6" tall and will retail for
$140.
Also added are some High Resolution shots of the Indy
Mini Bust and Statue!
Who's more popular at Christmastime in Orange County: Santa Claus
or Darth Vader?
Darth Vader, by a long shot.
That was the case Saturday in Irvine, where autistic children and
their parents celebrated the holidays at California Integrative Hyperbaric
Center. The guests of honor were St. Nick, of course, and the 501st
Legion, an organization of hobbyists who dress up in Star Wars costumes
for promotional and charitable events.
"It's great to see these kids happy," said Chris Romines,
40, of Cypress, who wore the enigmatic black mask, cape and breastplate
of the universe's primary antagonist. "But between the kids and
the adults, we don't know who's having more fun."
Several participants dressed as stormtroopers, one woman was Anakin
Skywalker, and a few kids wore furry little Ewok costumes. Gus Aguilera,
37, of Anaheim, donned a scary-looking Tusken raider outfit he fashioned
himself.
"It's for a good cause, and it makes the kids smile," said
Aguilera, a graphic designer. "We're spreading joy, I guess."
The swarm of children around the Star Wars characters outnumbered
the smaller group waiting to sit on Santa's lap and take pictures with
him. Ben Pace, 11, played with an R2-D2 robot and tried to figure out
how he operated.

Star
Wars Action News Update
We're sending out this newsletter one night late so that we at Star
Wars Action News can wish all of you a very, very Merry Christmas and
happy holidays. However, we don't want this to be a silent night, fill
the silence with the latest episode of Star Wars Action News!
This week the staff of Star Wars Action News comes together and looks
back on the fond, and not so fond, memories of 2007. Celebration 4,
the exclusives, the Ultimate Galactic Hunt, the artwork, and all the
other things that helped to celebrate this 30th year of Star Wars.
Also this week, Arnie sat down with Chris Trevas, artist and columnist
from the Star Wars Insider and one of the artists who illustrated the
new Essential Guide book--Jedi vs. Sith. Listen to find out where the
poses for the characters were drawn from and if you can get any custom
work done by this great artist.
And finally this week, we at Star Wars Action News would like to wish
you and yours a very Merry Christmas and happy holiday season this
year.
A 10-year-old Indian boy has emerged as the youngest champion in the
history of a BBC quiz show, Junior Mastermind .
David Verghese, who made it to the BBC1 show finals sailing through
the heats, had the Jurassic Park trilogy his specialist subject.
For the final, he chose the life and work of Star Wars director George
Lucas as his specialisation.
David, a student of Merchant Taylors' Junior School, Crossby, Merseyside,
beat three other boys in the final - securing 31 points in total, 15
on his specialist subject and 16 in the general knowledge round.
This avid reader, who attributed his newly-found success to "reading,
reading and more reading" revealed J R R Tolkien, H G Wells and
Isaac Asimov are his favourite authors.
"I have a passion for books. I've been reading for as long as
I can remember. I read for at least two hours every night, often more," he
said.
After winning the championship, David said, "I love the challenge
of quizzes. I don't get nervous. I put everything else out of my mind
and try to focus on the questions."
His 47-year-old mother, Rama said: "David has an insatiable
quest for knowledge. He had wanted to appear on Junior Mastermind
ever since
he first watched it three years ago, but the rules were quite clear
that no one younger than 10 was allowed to apply."
David was introduced to Star Wars by his father, George, 43. "I
am a big fan of sci-fi and think Star Wars is the absolute gold standard
for sci-fi fans around the world," said David, who desires to
make it to university in Cambridge one day.

New
Hasbro Q&A!
The next Yodasnews Hasbro Q&A:
YN: Will you continue with Expanded Universe figures in 2008?
Although
we love figures such as Luke and Han and the others of the original
movies, new characters would be a nice change of pace from the same
old, same old. Also, any plans for new vehicles that haven't been
released before?
H: The comic book 2-packs will continue throughout 2008. As has
been our strategy for 2007, we will continue to make sure that there
is a mix of core characters and introductions of characters new to
the 3-3/4" scale.
By keeping core characters in the mix, it ensures that we have traction
with kids, too, who are looking for familiar favorites and a comic
book with them in it. This strategy has been very, very successful
for us this year and we will continue that plan. Also, by keeping core
characters in the mix, we can fill some of those with repaints and
dedicate our tooling to new figures, which is what you are asking for.
It will be a happy balance. There *will* be new vehicles in the 2008
lineup that have not been released before, as well as some great exclusives
that are off-shoots of our existing tooling library. However, it is
too early to release details on these yet. Look for some news at Toy
Fair, the rest around Comic Con.
YN: I love the different weapons that come with the figures and
the
effort made to make them the right size. Some seem to be a bit soft.
Is it possible to make the guns a little stiffer so that they don't
get bent in the figure's hands? Also, would it ever be possible (as
a
special run, or even as an UGH / chase figure) to get "titanium" blasters
included with the figures? Those die-cast versions that came with the
titanium figures were awesome and they look great with the
figs!
H: The softness/stiffness of the accessories is something that
we have been aware of and have spoken with factories about. However,
there is likely to continue to be varying degrees of stiffness. The
reason is that factories often shoot black parts (like accessories)
with plastic that has
been recycled, a process that we encourage for certain items. As plastic
becomes melted down and reused, it loses some of its integrity, so
if weapons are shot with a recycled mix they will be softer. By doing
this, it keeps overall costs a bit lower in the long term. As for the
Titanium weapons, that is a very interesting question. The weapons
are, of course, much more expensive to produce, so they wouldn't be
part of a basic figure run. They do look sharp, so we'll look at possibilities.
YN: Any High Resolution Images of The Force Unleashed Basic Figures
Carded that you can share? Some low resolution shot have surfaced
in the last few days online and we have seen the loose High Resolution
ones but we would love to see the figures and cardbacks in beautiful
High Resolution
for
the
Holidays!
H: Sorry - these images have not been made available to us yet.
Generally, as soon as they're made available they are sent out to
the outside world, so we aren't any faster or more efficient on these
sorts of requests.
Since you asked and we don't have them yet, we will dig around and
forward as soon as we get some high-res to share.
Also, our friends at Mousedroid.com have been able
to secure a VIP-pass that will enable them to submit Aussie Collector
Questions. First round went to the staff at Mousedroid
but watch out in 2008 as they open up a special Hasbro Q&A Forum
Section @ Mousedroid.com that will let Australian and New Zealand
Members post their own series of collector questions.

Hasbro
Reminder About Rumors!
Hasbro posted on the official site a quick reminder about 2008 rumor
lists you may see floating around various websites:
The coming year is going to be very exciting for Hasbro’s boys
properties. We realize that fans are anticipating 2008 as much as we
are, and that speculation on our line is a large part of the excitement.
Fans of Hasbro’s boys brands may be noticing some information
circulating on the web. While you may be tempted to believe that this
information is accurate, we want to remind our fans, that unless product
information or images are posted on an official Hasbro brand site,
brand Q&A, or released by Hasbro’s Corporate Communications
team, the information is not authorized and therefore not official.
We do not want to get consumer hopes up when rumors turn out to be
unfounded.
We can’t wait to share great information, images and products
with fans of all ages at the appropriate time as determined by Hasbro
and, as appropriate, our licensors.
The year is winding down and our thoughts can't help but turn to the
big Star Wars moments of 2008. 2008 will be a big year for Star Wars,
and one of the first salvos Lucasfilm will be firing at your wallet
is The Force Unleashed. Delayed from 2007, The Force Unleashed will
be a game, a book, comics, toys, and more. Already some Force Unleashed
items are appearing on shelves, the minis. Guest reviewer Darth Cheddar
provides us a review of these items.
Also this week we talk about the latest finds of exclusive and hard
to find items. And finally this week, TheGingerPrince brings us up
to speed on all the items he's finding over in the UK.
Today, for your viewing pleasure we have High Resolution Images of
the 2nd wave of 2008 3 3/4 Figures from Hasbro. This wave focuses on
The
Force
Unleashed,
which

Heavy StormTrooper, Imperial Stormtrooper, Maris Brood, Darth

Wattographs
Sandi Finlay Signing!
Wattographs has lined up a great signing with Sandi Finlay, the mysterious
aide to Chancellor Palpatine, Sly Moore. Sandi doesn't do much in the

BigBadToyStore
News!
Hi - Here is a quick update from
Bigbadtoystore.com about another huge
batch of new preorders, many new arrivals, and a holiday shipping
schedule update.
BBTS HOLIDAY SHIPPING SCHEDULE: There is still plenty
of time to order and receive any of the cool items we have in stock.
Much of the country can still use UPS Ground for pre-holiday delivery,
and 2nd day air is available for those of you on the West Coast,
North-East, and Florida.
Our warehouse worked all weekend to stay current with orders and all
new orders will ship out in time for delivery on 12/24 or before:
GENTLE GIANT - INDIANA JONES: The first two pieces from this exciting
new GG license are the mandatory Indiana Jones Bust, and the very cool
Indy on Horseback statue. We have them both listed below MSRP
here
STAR WARS - HAN SOLO 12" SMUGGLER: Sideshow's latest figure is up for
preorder at $61.99 - this figure featurs Han in the outfit that
defines him, another great piece from the folks at Sideshow.
TONS OF OTHER ITEMS: There were at least 200 other items that arrived
this week in smaller quantities, so be sure to
take a look at
the site, we have a nice selection of items in stock.
A long time ago, in a place that now seems far, far away, George
Lucas first hurled filmgoers into hyperspace and introduced the noisy,
flashy
galaxyscape of "Star Wars." The 1977 movie depicted a Wild
West in outer space, where the good guys dressed like futuristic pirates.
Now, 30 years later, designer Marc Ecko, a fan of Lucas and the Star
Wars empire since childhood, has created a limited-edition collection
of Star Wars-inspired urban streetwear for men, under licence from
Lucasfilm Ltd.
"What's not to love about Star Wars?" says Ecko. "The
story...the imagery...the nostalgia. This collection is about taking
all of those elements and adding our unique twist to create something
that can only be described as 'geek chic."'
Instead of resembling the flowing garments and billowy tunics worn
in the early Star Wars movies, however, Ecko's line is hip, modern
menswear from his Cut & Sew label.
Ecko created a variety of T-shirts, hoodies and knits decorated with
iconic Star Wars images mixed with his own edgy, street-culture interpretations.
The designs range from all-over prints to headshots of individual characters
that were created with coloured rhinestones, beads, studs or embroidery.
Picture a would-be bounty hunter in a Boba "Fett for Real" sweatshirt,
or a "StoneTroopers" T-shirt that honours the big, bad commando
in white beadwork and stones. The "Hoth" parka wouldn't look
out of place on the ice planet.
The line will be sold in select Macy's stores, Macys.com, Marc
Ecko Cut & Sew stores and Against All Odds.

Director Steven Soderburgh once commented that all one needs to learn
to make movies is a DVD player.
With actor/director commentaries, deleted and extended scenes and
behind-the-scenes documentaries, DVDs offer a peak under the hood of
how movies get made.
Beyond being a director’s aid, the ease of switching audio
and subtitle tracks serves as a teaching tool that would make a linguistics
professor blush.
Last week, I popped in a movie that immediately comes to mind when
wanting to learn a new language: “The Empire Strikes Back.”
Sick of another traditional viewing, I set the audio track to Spanish
to watch the alianza de rebelde battle Señor Vader on la Sistema
de Hoth.
After fast-forwarding the movie to see what Vader and Yoda accents
sound like en Español, the novelty wore off and I was left with
a unique way to pick up a few foreign words and phrases.
Of course, learning languages through “Star Wars” leaves
the speaker with a lot of useless things to say. Foreign translations
of lightsaber, and Death Star are unlikely to help out on a trip abroad.
The easiest way to learn a language is not mundanely memorizing words
and their translations, but imitation. Babies learn to speak by copying
how their parents sound, and now, grown adults can learn Spanish by
copying Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Admitting that I can recite lines from Star Wars like a trained
canary makes me a geek, but if those lines are in Spanish, I’ve just
added a new skill … albeit remaining a geek.
One thing that’s beaten into anyone learning a language is
the constant need to hear it being spoken. As with anything, repetition
eases learning.
Watching a movie over and over, you learn not only what’s being
said, but how it’s being said. It’s no stretch to conclude
that watching that same movie in another language can teach you tone
and inflection.
By using different combinations of subtitles and audio tracks, DVDs
can quickly help you recognize and pronounce new words.

Star
Wars Wii Edition?
If you have $15,000 burning a hole in your pocket, then why not pick
up a one of kind Vader Nintendo Wii? If you had logged on to ebay
a few hours ago you could have scored one of only 4 in the world (according
to the seller who claimed to have 2). The auction stated it was one of four units that were
created to help promote Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and the package
included a Darth Vader edition Wii w/ stand and 2 Black Wiimotes
w/ 2 Black Nunchuks.
We have contacted the seller for more information and to see why the
auction ended suddenly and to see if these will be made for the masses
at a later date, if you want to check out the completed auction, check
out Ebay Item # 190181231496.
Update 12/11 11:37am:
Several readers wrote in with comments and questions, but we think
Yodasnews reader Frank may have nailed down why this auction was taken
down, because it's not legit, read on:
Here's my theory as to why it was taken down.... it's fake! Just look
at the controller, The buttons are labeled wrong - there is no
x or y buttons on a wiimote, they are 1 and 2. Also there is no speaker
on his so it is just a mock-up. Plus look at the games it comes with
-
Nintendo would never sell a package that include both Mario and Zelda,
not to mention that if it was made for the Force Unleashed - you'd
think
it would come with that game.
Thanks Frank as well as Steven and Chad who wrote in and also
questioned the wiimote. We have yet to hear back from the seller
and will report back when we do.

YN: The comic 2-pks have went over real well apparently this
year, and it looks like you have many more planned for next year.
Hints and rumors of upcoming characters are exciting many collectors.
But many also feel that the attempt to keep them at a $9.99 price
point causes a problem with the quality of these exciting but half-done
figures that won't get better versions down the road more than
likely. I understand that every figure cannot be vintage quality,
but the majority of these figures are well below basic figure quality.
So would you consider raising the price on them to say $14.99 to
be able to offer better made figures or are you bent on keeping
the $9.99 price point at all cost?
H: Neither, actually. We will be raising our pricing (and suggested
price to $11.99 SRP) in 2008 in an effort to be able to provide some
more articulation. However, we won't always be able to make each
figure super-articulated. We don't in the basic line, either - because
of the very high cost related to tooling, deco, and assembly, Vintage-style
articulation cannot be the goal for everything. We do hope to be
able to continue to offer quality of sculpting and articulation,
and a solid value for the 2-pack. This is doubly important since
kids have also been big fans of the comic 2-packs in addition to
collectors. By maintaining that attainable price point, we keep both
audiences engaged and can continue to put forth good batch of new
sculpts with each wave..
YN: Why the recent return of the hand held over sized weapons
that shoot missles? I don't mind them if the "regular" guns come
with the figures too (rebel vanguard) but I'd rather have another
accessory/pack-in if possible. I do mind if that's the only gun
for the figure as it seems that way in the AT-TE battle pack. Do
these guns really draw in that many more kids?
H: While we have and will continue to stay away from figures with
dedicated features (i.e. light-saber slashing) for the most part,
missile firing is a significant attraction for kids and we see it
as a good accessory to include when we can and need to add to the
play value. You have a good point to have a non-firing accessory,
especially for figures that have a collector draw, and we'll keep
that in mind. We will continue to use missile-firing blasters where
we think it's important to promote the play pattern.
YN: I would like to know from Hasbro if there are any plans
to do figures
from the New Jedi Order series of books? I would really like to see
something done with The Yuuzhan Vong, and the Jedi?
H: Yes. One of the first figures we will be releasing is the NJO
Luke Skywalker figure in the first new wave of the upcoming Evolutions
line.
That might not be the only NJO character in 2008, either…it depends on how schedules
work out, but we should have very exciting news around Comic Con next year about
the next NJO figure. Stay tuned!
Even if you're not a Star Wars fan yourself, there's a pretty
good chance you know someone who is. And if you are a fan, you know
the
best kind of holiday gifts are those which say, "I choose to like
you even though you still sleep in Wookiee bed sheets."
So for fans or friends of fans, we present our picks for the 10
best StarWarsShop gift ideas this season, all of which are
currently in-stock
now at StarWarsShop and ready to ship out in time for the holidays.
In 2008, the next chapter of the Star Wars saga will be told in
LucasArts' brand-new, next generation video game, Star Wars: The
Force Unleashed.
The game casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and
the storyline promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars
galaxy.
The official The Force Unleashed novel by author Sean Williams (based
on the story by Haden Blackman) will cover the events of the game,
providing the one true "canon" path of events that affect
the Star Wars saga. The hardcover novel comes out from Del Rey Books
next year around the time of the video game release. Here's a first
look at its cover, featuring art by Petrol Advertising in conjunction
with LucasArts.

Martial artist-actor Ray Park has been cast as the masked
and mysterious hero Snake Eyes in Paramount's forthcoming G.I. Joe movie.
Slashfilm.com first reported and IGN has confirmed that the X-Men
and Star Wars veteran has joined Sienna Miller in the cast of the Stephen
Sommers-directed film. Production begins this February in Europe and
L.A. for a summer 2009 release.
Park brings an already established fanboy following to G.I. Joe

Star
Wars Tooth Tunes!
Have you been looking for a reason to make sure you brush your teeth
for a full 2 minutes but just get tired of it and move on? Even if
you don't, those of us with kids know what a nightmare it is to get
them
to brush
the right way so why not add some fun to it, add in Tooth Tunes!
The latest addition to the Tooth Tunes lines features music and sounds
from Star Wars and the longer you brush, the more movie sound
effects and exciting phrases
you’ll
hear from the Star Wars saga! Sound vibrations stream from
the bristles through your teeth and
you can actually hear the sound effects in your head (as well as
in the room if you are close by) The better you brush, the better
the sound because the volume increases as your
brushing pressure increases.
They retail for $9.99 and are starting to
show up at stores with a broad release for the Star Wars brush slated
for January 2008. For a quick video of the brush in action as well
as some of the great quotes that will inspire you to keep brushing
click the arrow below to see a quick sample of the sounds you will
hear.
Please
note
these brushes sound much better when brushing and it's very cool how
clear you hear the music and quotes as you brush!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water.(And
just when you thought it was safe to assume that there were no original
Star Wars/toy ideas left) You’ll have some bathtime fun with
these strange Pond Wars ducks from a galaxy far far away.
You can get Luke Pondwalker, Pondtrooper, Duck Fader, or Princess
Layer. What? No Obi-Quack Kenobi? They light up in a strange way when
in contact with water and automatically switch off when out of the
water. This may not be exactly how George Lucas envisioned things,
but you can get them for £6.95 each.
I can’t wait to see the “Duck Star” get destroyed.
Here’s what’s new this week…whoa, check out all the new Star Wars

is holding their Fifth Annual Toy Drive to benefit Garrison Carida
(garrisoncarida.com).
Carida visits 8 or 9 Children's Hospitals each year to pose for photos
and hand out toys to the patients. Each year their stock of toys needs
to be replenished, mostly via donations.
This year PSWCS is hosting two live collection events. The first is
December 1st and 2nd at the Steel City Con in Pittsburgh, PA (pittsburghtoyshow.com).
The second is December 8th at Toy Cave in Carlisle, PA (thetoycave.com).
They also happily accept donations via mail, if you can't make it to
one of these events. PSWCS is very happy to continue supporting this
very worthy cause. If you are interested in donating some Star Wars
toys to these children, please visit the official Toy Drive page at http://www.pswcs.com/toydrive/
HE IS the supreme villain of the universe who has terrorised generations
of film-goers. But now Darth Vader - aka veteran actor Dave Prowse
- is set to appear at a Star Wars fancy dress party in Edinburgh to
raise money for the Sick Kids hospital.
And a legion of "stormtroopers" is expected to accompany
the villain when he arrives at the Polwarth Tavern in Fountainbridge
on Saturday night.
The science-fiction icon's visit to the Capital has been masterminded
by Ben Prowse, a distant cousin of the actor, who runs the pub on Polwarth
Crescent.
And the 30-year-old publican is hoping that his special guest will
help raise thousands of pounds for charity.
"He is a distant cousin of mine so the moment we decided to
hold a Star Wars theme night in the pub, I decided to phone him up
and see
if he was interested in coming.
"We've done fundraising nights here before that have been
successful, so we decided to host a Star Wars night this time round
and lots of
people have already been enquiring about it.
"Thankfully Dave said he would be delighted to come and visit
and we're hoping he will be a big draw for Star Wars fans. He hasn't
been to Edinburgh for many years, so I think he's really looking forward
to it....

Gentle
Giant Mini Busts and Maquettes Price Increase.
We had heard rumors the last few weeks but today we have confirmed
with several sources that Gentle Giant will be increasing the retail
price on mini busts and maquettes by 10% for mini busts and 12% for
maquettes. This will be reflected on all new items starting with
Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti and the Animated Emperor maquette. We contacted
several e-stores and sponsors last night and most will honor the price
on preorders already placed but the new price stucture is
reflected on many sites as of last night or will be happening in the
next few days. On average we were told that customers of various e-stores
will see a
price increase
of
$4
- $6
on mini busts and $8 - $12 on maquettes.
Considereing that everything has gone up in the last four years and
that the MSRP for Gentle Giant items has not changed,
it's not that unusual for a company to have to compensate for increases
in cost and production. If you have a pre-order, it might be a good
idea to check with the e-store or seller and see how they plan to handle
it.

New
Stormie On the Way?
4-inches.de posted
a picture yesterday of a Stormtrooper with red markings, a green visor
and a regular Stormtrooper
Blaster. They also indicated that it is not a custom. That is all the
information they had, but you can bet this will appear on our Q&A this
week!
Harrison
Ford claims he is being constantly bothered by Star Wars fans, who
pray to him as the leader of the "Jediism" religion.
Ford,
well known for his performances as the space pilot Han Solo in the
science-fiction film series, said the film fanatics prayed to
him at the doorstep of his Wyoming home.
Star Wars, which first appeared in the 1970s, became a pop culture
phenomenon and inspired the so-called "Jediism" religion.
But in an ironic twist, Harrison Ford revealed in 2006 that he wanted
to kill off intergalactic rogue Han Solo in Return of the Jedi, the
series' concluding film.
"I did think the character itself was relatively thin. I would
have liked to see some complication for the character; the only complication
I didn't get was to die at the end of the third one," he said.
While their apparently weak armor and horrendous marksmanship diluted
their on-screen presence for some viewers, the Imperial Stormtroopers
were a terrifying and formidable force in the eyes of the fictional
Rebel Alliance. Their identical uniforms and electronically distorted
voices gave them an almost robotic nature in a time when their true
origins as a partial clone army was still twenty-five years away—although
the foundations for that were certainly in place from the start. From
the perspectives of the heroic characters in the Star Wars universe,
what could possibly be more intimidating than the rank-and-file hordes
of Stormtroopers?
Perhaps an Imperial force that could pursue them into the heart of
the coldest reaches of the galaxy…
The Snowtrooper, making its cinematic debut in The Empire Strikes
Back, was the first of many Stormtrooper variations that would come
to populate the saga’s universe. Equipped to survive and carry
out combat operations in the harshest of frigid environments, Snowtroopers
enjoyed a good amount of screen time during the major set piece of
Empire’s first act—the Battle of Hoth. These troops quickly
became fan-favorites, and collectible renditions have been consistently
popular.
Now, twenty-seven years after their debut, Hasbro presents the first
action figure incarnation of the Snowtrooper’s conceptual design.
Given the popularity of previous Snowtroopers, this figure is virtually
guaranteed to fly off the pegs. However, does this figure deserve such
attention, or is it merely benefiting from its inherited good name?
