The 2009 Comic Con is less than a month
away but big news is already coming from a galaxy far,
far, away. For the first time ever in the San Diego-based
convention's 40 year history, a presentation entitled "The
Star Wars Spectacular" will be broadcast as a major
television event on the G4 cable channel. The Lucas-approved
broadcast will be shown on Saturday July 25th starting
at 2pm ET/PT and will feature exclusive never-before-seen
footage, breaking Star Wars/Lucasfilm news, guest stars,
and surprise announcements.
The Lucasfilm panels are normally kept secret from those
not attending the sold-out "Star Wars Day" panels
usually held on the Friday of the convention. This year,
Lucas devotees will get to hear exclusives from Lucasfilm's
Steve Sansweet and "Clone Wars" supervising director
Dave Miloni on the sci-fi-centric G4's popular "Attack
of the Show" starring Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn
who is a favorite among fanboys due to her tendency to
appear in revealing costumes such as the Slave Leia outfit
made famous in "Return of the Jedi."
"Star Wars" fans are also invited to participate
in the panel discussions by submitting questions through
a G4 micro-site. Questions will be answered by the panelists
live during the broadcast of the "Star Wars Spectacular."
Lucasfilm is also making Comic Con history with the "Star
Wars Stories" project in which fans can be a part
of Lucasfilm's historical archive by submitting stories
of "Star Wars" movie moments and nostalgia via
video testimonials. Attendees can record their testimonials
on-site at the Lucasfilm pavilion or at g4tv.com/comiccon.

Last week, iTunes announced that it is celebrating
the 25th anniversary of the release of Ghostbusters. This
it did by renting it out at 99p, as its “Film of
the Week”. I had two quite intense and simultaneous
responses to this news. The first was sombre. It was, if
I may be frank, bordering on maudlin.
“Twenty five years? Twenty-five years? My God,
this is worse than when I realised it was ten years since
Vogue by Madonna was No 1. I never used to be able to remember
things from 25 years ago. I am beginning to have the memory
span — the reminiscing capabilities — of an
old woman.”
The second response was, thankfully, much brisker. It
was: “99p! For the best film ever made? That’s
an INSULT! It’s like iTunes saying you can have sex
with the Queen for a pound! It won’t stand, by God!
IT WON’T STAND!”
But, on reflection, in many ways the two responses kind
of merged together in the middle. For the simple truth
of the matter is that Ghostbusters is the greatest film
ever made — and yet, currently, the world is too
scared to admit this. In 2009, if you stood up at a party
and spoke factually — Ghostbusters should still be
nominated for an Oscar every year, even now — that’s
how good it is” — you would probably experience
great feelings of squirminess, and embarrassment.
And that is because the generation before us has done
an excellent propaganda job on installing Star Wars as
the best film ever made, and we — their younger brothers
and sisters — never realised how late in the day
it was getting. If we’d realised a little sooner
that 25 bleeding years had passed, we would have got a
hustle on with shooting George Lucas’s overrated,
po-faced bundle of space-tat out of the water. As it is,
I think we all still thought it was, like, 1992 or something,
and there was plenty of time to make the case for Ghostbusters,
after we’d got over how good this new Blur album
was.

A naked sex scene with STAR WARS star CARRIE FISHER literally
made the actress' WHITE LIGHTNIN' co-star sick - because
he'd drank so much champagne. Edward Hogg, who plays real-life
alcoholic dancer Jesco White in the film, admits love scenes
with his childhood pin-up were awkward and embarrassing -
and he threw up after their final intimate encounter.
The actor explains, "In one of the scenes we shot,
which didn't make it in the movie, we pop champagne in the
bath together and I had to drink about a half bottle down. " We
did about seven takes, so I'd drunk about three bottles of
real champagne by the time we finished the scene. I had to
run down the road after that and felt so sick from the champagne
that I just threw up."
And when he wasn't being violently sick, Hogg admits he
was suffering from chronic embarrassment. He tells WENN, "I
must've seen one of the first three Star Wars movies every
Christmas since I was six years old and Carrie was lovely
to me; she knew what she was doing.

It can safely be said that virtually every
kid you know these days have grown up watching at least
one of the six Star Wars movies, and chances are pretty
good they’ve seen them all many times. Well, not
everyone is going to grow up to be part of the Jedi, as
these younglings aren’t too young to figure out that
the Dark Side of the Force seems to hold a whole lot of
promise and power. Well, here’s the TIE Fighter playhouse
that ought to give your little ones plenty of fun imagining
that they’re Darth Vader, shooting down Red One in
the Death Star trench run.

Our beloved astromech seems to be popping
up everywhere. First R2-D2 shows up in Star Trek. And now
the film’s visual-effects supervisor, who also worked
on Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace, and the same
screenwriting team who wrote him into Star Trek, are saying
Artoo is in their new movie Transformers: Revenge of the
Fallen.
MTV News reports:
“There’s an R2-D2 flying around in there
somewhere,” revealed ILM’s Scott Farrar, the
film’s visual-effects supervisor, who also worked
on the Star Wars episodes Return of the Jedi and The Phantom
Menace. “There’s a little bit of space junk
thrown in there; see if you can find it. It’s a scene
in the desert.” Interestingly enough, George Lucas’ charismatic
droid also had a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in
Star Trek, which shares the same writing team as Transformers.
Is it a coincidence? “Perhaps,” screenwriter
Alex Kurtzman grinned mischievously. “Perhaps not.”

Last week we brought you the news of the Delta

I recently had the opportunity to speak
to Matt Lanter, the 90210 star who also has a second ongoing
television gig via his role as Anakin Skywalker on Star
Wars: The Clone Wars. The Clone Wars will be back for Season
2 this fall, and Lanter told me his impressions of what
he's seen so far and why it's so fun to be a part of Star
Wars.
IGN TV: What can you tell us about the
episodes you've worked on for Clone Wars: Season 2?
Matt Lanter: Honestly, I feel like everyone says this,
and it's so cliche to say, but honestly man… It is
getting so good! The movie was just the beginning of it
and Season 1 was just continually getting better. Everyone's
really getting into the groove. These guys, our animators
in San Francisco and also in Singapore, are just really
getting it down. I feel like the characters on screen have
so much life in them now, even down to the breaths, which
helps you feel life with these animated characters.
I actually got to go up to the ranch the other day and
saw some sneak peeks at Season 2. I can tell you man, they
are action packed and it feels great. It feels like great
Star Wars.

For anyone who collects autographs there are some rare,
hard to get autographs that would be the one they want above
all others. The rarity of these autographs is what makes
Master Replicas able to charge $800 more for a Millennium
Falcon WITH Harrison Ford's autograph versus one without.
For Arnie, that ultimate autograph has always been George
Lucas, and this past weekend at the Siskel Film Center Arnie
was able to get that autograph and meet "the maker".
This week on Star Wars Action News, Arnie and Marjorie report
on the George Lucas tribute at the Siskel Center and discuss
finally getting that picture and autograph.
Also this week, we have a vintage review of not one but
two vintage Death Star playsets, one you probably know very
well and the other you might not have heard of.

Worldwide Invasion Begins!
Over the years Gentle Giant has received many
requests for the Delta Squad Clone Troopers from the Lucasarts
video game Republic Commando. So it comes with great pleasure
that we can grant the wishes of our dedicated Star Wars collectors
world wide!
As the invasion begins, The Republic Commandos (shipping
4th quarter) will be offered to 4 locations across the globe,
as well as directly to Gentle Giant's Premier Guild Members.
There will also be a strictly limited edition box set of
all 4 busts made available exclusively at www.GentleGiantLTD.com
Delta Squad was an elite heavily armored clone commando
unit that carried out demanding missions for the Grand Army
of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The unit played instrumental
roles in the Battle of Geonosis as well as in the lead up
to the Battle of Kashyyyk. Consisting of four hardened, well
trained commandos;
BOSS, also known as RC-1138, and Delta-38, was a clone commando in
the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars and Imperial commando
of the Imperial Army. He was nicknamed Boss by his fellow clones, and
was the sergeant of Delta Squad.

FIXER, also known as RC-1140, and Delta-40, was an elite clone commando
in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Although he
hated the use of nicknames, he was known as Fixer to the other commandos
in his squad, because of his talent for fixing and slicing all things
mechanical. Unlike his fellow squad members had developed distinct
personalities, Fixer was a gruff, by-the-book clone. Fixer was often
the one urging his squad onwards during a mission.

SEV, also known as RC-1207 and Delta-07, was a clone commando and a
sharpshooter in Delta squad during the Clone Wars. He was often referred
to by his nickname of Sev, especially by his squad mates, and was well
known for his sadistic sense of humor. Sev, alegedly, was given this
name due to his love of severing an enemy's limb or body part. Sev
aided the Republic in a number of missions, fighting on planets such
as Geonosis, Coruscant, Skuumaa, Mygeeto, Dorumaa, and finally Kashyyyk,
where he went missing in action. Sev completed many Black Operations
for the Republic--covert missions typically involving activities that
were highly secret due to questionable ethics and legality.

SCORCH, also known as RC-1262, or Delta 62, was a clone
commando in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone
Wars. Among the commandos of Delta Squad he was often referred
to as Scorch, he was considered to be Delta Squad's wise
guy, and was often chided by RC-1140 known as Fixer, the
squads unofficial second in command. However, most of Scorch's
comments were aimed at Sev, and he was not afraid to talk
back. Scorch was the squads demolitions expert, and loved
annihilating anything that came in reach.

Exclusive
Stormtrooper Mini Bust Up for Pre-Order!
The Architects’ Journal selects the
most important buildings from a galaxy far, far away. Part
II features Jabba the Hutt’s palace and the Jedi
Temple..
In the late afternoon Saturday, moments
before George Lucas arrived at the Four Seasons Hotel,
a publicist asked a worker bee if the Princess Leias
were ready. "Getting there," the worker bee
replied. "There are two. The blond Caitlin and the
red-headed Melissa." In other words, interns for
the publicity firm handling the event -- filmmaker Jon
Favreau was interviewing the "Star Wars" creator,
who was being presented with the Gene Siskel Film Center
Visionary Award for Innovation in Filmmaking -- sold
raffle tickets while dressed in that iconic flowing white
robe and Cinnabon hairdo.
The evening was a benefit for the Film Center, and
the guest list included Jesse Jackson Jr., Estelle Walgreen,
Film Center founder Camille Cook, board members, socialities.
But all the fluttery anticipation -- clipboards shifted
from arm to arm, casual poses, the whole works -- was
for Lucas.
"Do I look extremely nervous?" one publicist
asked.
"Remember, he's people," another said. "That's
all."

With this unique Star Wars Light Saber
Umbrella, you'll always be equipped with the fashion
of Star Wars anytime you need to combat those hot summer
day downpours. Not only will you be in Star Wars fashion
with your very own light saber umbrella, you'll also
have the added benefit of standing out with your very
own onboard LED light that functions as a flashlight
too.
There does seem to be some debate whether this umbrella
is truly styled after Star Wars, because it also looks
similar in appearance to the umbrellas that appear in
Blade Runner; but whatever you want to call it, kick
the rain's but in style and let the force be with you.

TFAW & The
Comic Book Legal Defense SDCC 2009 Promo!
Things
From Another World (TFAW.com) and The Comic Book Legal
Defense Fund (CBLDF) are inviting comic industry professionals
to take part in an exciting new fundraising promotion,
which will culminate at the CBLDF’s auction at San
Diego Comic-Con 2009 (July 23rd-26th). This event is open
to individual creators and companies in the comic, toy,
and comic collectibles industry and has already been generously
endorsed by flagship sponsors Image Comics, Dark Horse
Comics, Top Shelf Productions, Periscope Studio, and Top
Cow Productions. Additionally we are thrilled to launch
this event with the art of esteemed and award-winning artists
David Hahn, Steve Lieber, Mike Mignola, and Eric Powell
already committed to the auction.
These companies and creators are donating original artwork,
which will be auctioned at SDCC '09, with 100% of the proceeds
going to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund to support their
ongoing mission of preserving First Amendment rights for
members of the comics community. An update list of contributing
organizations can be found at http://www.tfaw.com/sdcc09-auction.
We invite you to join their number.
TFAW.com and
the CBLDF will be printing 1,000 promotional Autograph Cards
to be distributed at SDCC ‘09, for every participating
creator. We are extending an open invitation to all comic
industry professionals to participate in this fundraising
effort for the CBLDF. For each charitable donation of art
made, TFAW.com will assume the costs for creating 1,000 promotional
handouts out for you and distribute half of them for you
at SDCC.
To coordinate your inclusion in this event, or if you have
any further questions, please contact Andrew McIntire at
andrewm@tfaw.com or via phone at 503.905.2395.
In celebration of the StarWars.com Soundboards launching
the Yoda series today, we thought we'd take a look at
some of the rarer posters sporting the Jedi Master's
image, a distinction not too many Star Wars characters
enjoy. Sure, you've got scores of posters featuring Vader,
the droids, and even Darth Maul, but for some reason
Yoda seems to land himself on some of the rarest and
most sought after posters printed over the last 30 years.
Click the thumbnails below to read more about the individual
posters, or just click through the full series at the
bottom of the page.
Clone troopers take the front line in
four action-packed episodes from Star Wars: The Clone
Wars, coming to DVD September 15, 2009 from Warner Home
Video and Lucasfilm Ltd. Star Wars: The Clone Wars --
Clone Commandos features four exciting episodes from
the hugely popular Cartoon Network series, including "Rookies," "Storm
Over Ryloth," "Innocents of Ryloth" and "Liberty
on Ryloth."
In "Rookies," Captain Rex and Commander Cody
must inspire a rookie unit -- posted alone on a distant
moon -- to believe in themselves in order to stave off
a Separatist droid commando attack. In the three-part "Ryloth" arc,
Jedi and clones attempt to liberate a strategic planet
from Separatist occupation, and in the process discover
that the sweeping galactic conflict has taken a toll
on innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
"We are very excited to team with Lucasfilm to
bring the second collection of Star Wars: The Clone Wars
episodes to DVD this September," said Amit Desai,
WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Partner
Brands. "Through quality storytelling and action-packed
adventures, Star Wars: The Clone Wars has become a tremendous
success on Cartoon Network and we are thrilled to help
further the Star Wars mythology for longtime fans as
well as introduce a whole new generation to the beloved
series."
The iconic actor known eternally as a
vampire and a fallen Jedi Knight is now a real life knight
of sorts, as Queen Elizabeth II granted Christopher Lee
the title of Sir.
Lee received his new title along with golfer Nick Faldo,
X-men 2’s Alan Cumming, celebrity hairdresser Vidal
Sassoon and celebrity chef Delia Smith — among
others.
Lee can lay claim to the unofficial additional title
of King of All Nerd Franchises. In addition to his several
battles with Peter Cushing in Hammer Films’ Dracula
movies, he was a Bond Villain (The Man with the Golden
Gun), Fu Manchu in a bunch of movies, a Lord of the Rings
baddie (Saruman), the eerie villain in The Wicker Man
(the original) and Count Dooku in the Star Wars series.
Along the way, he appeared on The Avengers, Space: 1999,
multiple Tim Burton movies and more video games than
you’ve had hot dinners.
In the end, he’s the epitome of a working British
actor who’d take on anything.

Happy
Birthday Ralph McQuarrie!
Happy 80th Birthday to Ralph McQuarrie, the
conceptual designer and futurist responsible for our beloved
Star Wars!
Looking for something to do with your
family this upcoming weekend? Check out Legoland. Even
if you don't have any kids and you're still a big Star
Wars goof ball, stop by and have some fun!
The prices are a bit steep: $63/Adults and $53/kids,
but there will be lots to do. Reportedly, XBOX 360 gaming
will be available, costume contests held at 4 pm on both
days, and Darth Vader will pay a visit. I wonder what
his stance is on the whole gay marriage issue?
Costume contest winners may receive more than $500
in prizes, including Lego Star wars toys, among other
things.
You are welcome to join the force, wearing the costume
of your favorite character and mingle with others of
like mind and inter-galactic endeavor. I suggest you
bring your own burritos; as we all know, food can get
a little pricey at theme parks. Enjoy!

Imperial
Shock Trooper: Sideshow Exclusive Up for Order!
The red-marked soldiers of the
Grand Army of the Republic were quartered on Coruscant and
tasked with the protection of the Senate and other governmental
facilities, as well as serving as guards and escorts for diplomatic
envoys. Though such a role would suggest less exposure to frontline
combat, extensive and well guarded training facilities on Coruscant
served to keep the red-marked troops in fit fighting condition.
During the attack on Coruscant by the Separatists, the Shock
Troopers emerged as one of the last lines of defense against
the invading droid forces. These highly skilled troops, under
the command of ARC-trained and promoted Commander Thire,
were able to prevent many of the droids from demolishing
some of Coruscant's most ancient and revered edifices, but
they were unable to prevent General Grievous from kidnapping
the Chancellor.

with Display Base is Now up For Order.Click

Mimoco, makers of the MIMOBOT collection
of designer USB flash drives, is celebrating the tenth
anniversary of The Phantom Menace with an all-new series
of themed MIMOBOT characters, beginning with the iconic,
tattooed face of the deadly Sith apprentice, Darth Maul.
The highly collectible MIMOBOTS, available in 1GB to
8GB capacities, are known for exclusive preloaded digital
extras that include Star Wars-themed icons, avatars,
screensavers, wallpapers, and the mimoByte Sound Software
that plays authentic Star Wars audio clips when MIMOBOT
is inserted or ejected from one's computer.
Darth Maul will be the thirteenth character in the
Star Wars MIMOBOT collection of flash drives, and is
joined by Clone Wars' Captain Rex and...TWO Darth Vaders!
(Check out the new trailer video above)
While the two new Vaders look identical on the outside,
their faces -- revealed when the USB cover is removed
-- will depict either the young Darth Vader of the prequel
trilogy or the old, pale Vader of the classic trilogy.
The two Vaders will be offered in blind-box fashion,
which means you won't know which one you're getting until
you open the package. And if you find classic Darth staring
back at you, consider yourself strong with the dark side
-- he's the chase version, and you've got a one in six
chance of getting him!

Sunday afternoon seems like the perfect
time to check in on our friends from Worth1000, whose
latest movie-related photoshop contest has to do with
taking any celebrity image and transforming it into a
Star Wars character. You can find an example above; that's
Wall-E and Eve as R2-D2 and C-3PO. And they definitely
get wackier -- with President Obama showing up as Yoda
multiple times, and Princess Leia merging with folks
like Angelina Jolie and Kevin Spacey (probably the oddest
and most random image of the lot). Ever want to see Elvis
as Han Solo? It's in there. And ever wonder what Goofy
mixed with General Grievous would look like? No? Well
it's in there, too ... with the Please Let Them Never
Do This In Real Life award going to an image of Han Solo
(as Jim Carrey), Chewbacca (as Jack Black), Luke Skywalker
(as Owen Wilson) and Obi-Wan (as Jackie Chan) onboard
the Millennium Falcon. Creepy.

Five
Storylines We’d Like To See In The Star Wars TV
Show!
The Force only knows when we’ll
eventually see Lucas’ highly-anticipated TV spin-off
of Star Wars, so in the meantime we’ve compiled
a list of the five storylines we’d like to see
it tackle…
Organarama, Birth Of The Rebellion, Soldiers Of Fortune,
Expanding the universe, and Return of the Jedi
Ever since 1977 Star Wars fans have loved Stormtroopers.
But the problem is, they're all mostly the same. Sure,
there are Sandtroopers with their colored shoulders, and
Snowtroopers with their erie hoods and half-capes, but
really there is just one Stormtrooper. Leave it to Hasbro
to find a way to give us a multi-pack full of unique, helmet-removable
stormtroopers by making the Joker's Squad of Stormtroopers
from the Legacy comic books. We review these figures this
week.
Also this week we look at other offerings from Hasbro
including some new Titaniums, the Target exclusive remote
controlled Astromech droids, the Target exclusive Jabba's
Rancor, and the TIE Fighter Bust from Gentle Giant.
And remember the Star Wars Action News video idol contest
where you can win great prizes and prize packs Click

Q & A
Session with Gentle Giant Ltd.
The team from Gentle Giant Ltd. was again kind enough to
answer a bunch of questions GGC had.
They also let us know a few tidbits that have not been announced
beforehand, as well as, the first sneak peek at the Painted
Hoth Leia Mini Bust and the first look of what the Variant
Hoth Leia will be! Some of the questions they had were:
What went behind the decision to do the light side and
dark side of Vader's Apprentice for the Force Unleashed mini
busts instead of the more recognizable version of Vader's
Apprentice as he was shown in most of the marketing and promotional
images for the video game and other merchandise?
Will GG announce which products are going to have the exclusive
accessories mentioned in the PGM benefits?
Any new edition sizes you can let us in on? Garindan
bust? Hoth Luke bust? Boba Fett/Carbonite dio
statue?
All these questions, and many more, can be read by clicking
here or the image below (please note a free forum account
will be needed to view the boards)

Painted
Hoth Leia GG Mini Bust Sneak Peek and Variant Debut!
As part of the Q&A mentioned above, Gentle Giant shared
this sneak peek of the Painted Hoth Leia Mini Bust coming
soon as well as the first look of what the variant will be,
check it out below (click for the full size view)
The Heroes casting reports just won't
stop. Yesterday, we learned that Prison Break's Robert
Knepper would come on board as a new villain. Now, Star
Wars baddie Ray Park is in talks to appear in the show's
next season for a sizeable arc.
As Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Park
famously wielded a double-bladed light saber to slice
up Liam Neeson. He showed his goofier side as Toad in
the original X-Men film and recently as a Skywalker Ranch
security guard in Fanboys. We still don't know any details
about Park's role on Heroes, but some Interweb bloggos
are convinced that he'll play the "Knife Thrower" described
in Heroes' recent casting breakdowns.
Ray Park as the Knife Thrower? I'll take it. As long
as he gets to do Kung-Fu kicks and 360-degree air spins
while he's throwing knives.
Park, who next stars as Snake Eyes in GI Joe: The Rise
of Cobra, should be able to deliver some decent action
to Heroes, a show that's been lacking just that since
season one (remember how we got jipped during the last
Petrelli bros. vs. Sylar bout?). Par is also a pretty
good actor. Darth Maul was scary as hell, and he was
appropriately disgusting and funny as Toad in X-Men.
I wonder if this casting move will help get Heroes' ratings
up next season.

Wattographs
Autograph Signings: Phil Tippett & Colin Ware!
In 1984 Phil Tippett along with
John Berg headed the ILM animation department in The "Empire
Strikes Back." Tippett & Berg's innovative stop-motion
technique brought life to the rebellion's Tauntauns and menacing
AT-AT Walkers. Afterwards, Tippett led the creature shop in
1983 for "Return of the Jedi" supervising all the
aliens of Jabba's Palace and the rebellion which won him the
Oscar that year. He was personally selected by Stephen Spielberg
to supervise the animation of dinosaurs for "Jurassic
Park". His other films include "Virus" and "Starship
Troopers" among others. Mr. Tippett will be signing official
photographs and fans' personal items!
Colin Ware played cowardly neimoidians, Lushros Dofine and
Viceroy Nute Gunray in "Revenge of the Sith." Gunray
continuously avoided capture and trial during the Clone Wars
until Darth Vader brought him to justice -from a certain
point of view. Mr. Ware will be signing official photos and
fan's personal items!
Signing ends June 30th at 11:59:59pm EDT. Personal items
need to be in Scott's possession by June 30th. Visit Wattographs
for complete signing details!
It seemed like an odd idea at the time (and
probably still does to some people), but when LucasArts brought
their massively multiplayer battle game Star Wars: Battlefront
to the PSP with 2007’s Star Wars: Battlefront: Renegade
Squadron, it actually worked rather well.
Now they’re hoping to repeat that odds-defying move
by not only bringing the series back to the PSP, but also
to the DS, with Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron. We
took a very, very brief look at the game at LucasArts' booth
today, and while we can’t say for sure that the game
will be more fun than a barrel of Wookies, we are cautiously
optimistic.
For the most part, Elite Squadron plays basically the same
as Renegade Squadron. The big change is that where before
you’d have some battles in space and some on a planet,
now the battles take place in both places at the same time.
A battle on Hoth, for example, not only has you fighting
Stormtroopers in the snow, but Tie Fighters in space.
And the battle can cross those lines. You could, say,
get into the Ion Cannon and shoot it up at an Imperial
Cruiser,
or command an Imperial Cruiser to carpet bomb the surface
of Hoth. You can also run over to an X-Wing Fighter, fly
it into space, land on a Cruiser’s flight deck, and
start shooting up the Stormtroopers who were waiting for
a ride. Granted, it doesn’t make this transition seamlessly — you
have to hit a button when you get to the border between land
and space — but it’s still pretty cool.
This week we are featuring some great New Arrivals like the Hot Toys Two-Face figure, several Bowen Designs busts and fan favorite - Transformers busts. Our Featured new pre-orders include the Bruce Lee/Green Hornet Enterbay figure and the Alien Life Size bust.
Any
convention that mixes R2-D2, Tesla coils, fire-breathing
sculptures, a human-size mousetrap, art cars, unusual inventions
and crafts is bound to have something for everyone.
Bay Area Maker Faire — May 30-31, 3009 — brought
together craftsters, robot wranglers, science geeks, rocket
builders, Burning Man artists, steampunks and more.
In addition to the Bay Area R2 Builders, Star Wars fans
were treated to two days of craft tutorials. On Saturday,
kid and adult fans alike spent the afternoon with Starwars.com
making Ewok sock puppets. Over 100 Ewok sock puppets
were made with a variety of googly eyes, pom pom noses,
felt outfits and brown socks.

The below two videos were uploaded
to YouTube.com a few days ago. Both are worth a watch! Check them
out below:
"
The Sacking of Coruscant. It was the crowning achievement
of the Sith Empire’s ambitious military strategy
and the moment that changed the history of the Old Republic
forever. You may have read about it before, but our first
cinematic trailer captures this event with breathtaking
action and beautiful detail.
Republic leaders have traveled to Alderaan to engage
in promised peace talks with the Sith Empire. The most
powerful
Jedi have accompanied them to safeguard against an Imperial
deception. The Empire’s real motive, however, was
simply to lure the Republic’s strongest defenders
away from Coruscant and set the stage for an audacious
attack. Under the command of Lord Angral, the Sith fleet
approaches the Republic’s capital planet for the
first time in centuries. In advance of the fleet, the strongest
Sith Warriors have flown a stolen Republic ship into Coruscant’s
orbit. Their mission is critical – to destroy the
planet’s defense grid mainframe hidden in the heart
of the Jedi Temple."

Star
Wars Action News Update!
The Star Wars Mighty Muggs are an interesting line. While
so many of the Muggs warm shelves across the nation, others
go for top dollar on eBay. With shoddy distribution and a
number of exclusives, the only true reliable way to get the
newest Muggs at near-retail prices is ordering by the case.
This week on Star Wars Action News, we open cases of Wave
8 and 9 Mighty Muggs and see if they are worth the trouble,
and also review the exclusive Admiral Ackbar and Shadow Stormtrooper
Muggs.
Also this week we have a very special Hasbro Q&A. Recently
Hasbro announced that the collector market is waning and
as such actions have been taken, such as removing the upcoming
Force Unleashed wave from the regular lineup, instead making
those figures exclusives, and that there will be a reduction
in future collector-specific figures in the line. On this
week's Q&A we drill for details on what this means for
the Legacy collection, for comic packs, for the upcoming
Expanded Universe wave of figures, and for collectors in
general. Hasbro was very generous in giving us in-depth,
detailed answers and it is one of our most thought-provoking
Q&As yet.
With voice mails from Disney World and more, it's all this
week on Star Wars Action News. Click
here to listen!
The voice behind The Clone Wars' Yoda, Tom
Kane, sounds off in an exclusive interview for Insider 110,
revealing the many roles he has voiced for countless Star
Wars game titles -- Threepio, Fett, Tarkin, Ackbar and others
have all been benefactors of Kane's vocal talents!
The actor behind the Star Wars galaxy's other famously diminutive
hero, Wicket the Ewok, also gets interviewed with a look
back at the saga characters played by Warwick Davis. Following
this extended interview is a set of five fun character profiles
of the Ewoks from Return of the Jedi!
There are also two great features on our favorite princess,
including a whimsical interview with Carrie Fisher and a
retrospective of Princess Leia collectibles. Oh, and subscribers
and select comic stores will be getting this Insider with
a stunning Leia cover by artist Terese Nielsen!

Review:
Ibtisam and Nrin Vakil (Rogue Squadron #19)
While it still has noticeable issues with inconsistent quality
and poor articulation, the Star Wars Comic Pack series has
nevertheless become an excellent venue for a plethora of
obscure characters to see the light of day. Ten years ago,
collectors profusely thanked Hasbro for the release of major
EU characters such as Mara Jade, knowing that such side trips
into the Expanded Universe would be quite rare. Today, characters
like Grand Moff Trachta, Deena Shan, and Janek Sunber have
hit store shelves in ample supply—all thanks to the
Comic Packs.
Today’s review looks at “Rogue Squadron #19)
which includes the Mon Calamari pilot Ibtisam and the Quarren
pilot Nrin Vakil. This is one of three packs recently released
as a single assortment exclusive to Wal-Mart, and it is by
far the most interesting of the three (seriously, a set of
three Ewoks was one of the other two?!). Combining kit-bashed
bodies from prior X-Wing pilots with brand-new heads and
hands, Hasbro not only increased the ranks of Rogue Squadron
but also gave collectors a pair of star-crossed souls destined
to a tragic end (Ibtisam perished while on a mission to bring
former Imperial Grand Vizier Sate Pestage into New Republic
hands).

on eBay. Take the links for view of Bespin Han Solo (minus
his Jacket) and Chewbacca which looks to be the Legacy

As with all things that show up before they're "officially" confirmed,
the final products may vary (hopefully). Thanks the Yakface
