Bounty Hunter Bricks: LEGO CubeDudes for CV

Posted at StarWars.com:

Collectors lucky enough to snag one of the coveted LEGO Clone Wars CubeDudes exclusives at Comic-Con last week have likely become instant fans of the set's funky aesthetic, which seems to mix a retro sensibility with Japanese anime.

LEGO fan and Pixar animator Angus MacLane, who was literally "discovered" online by LEGO after he posted images of his custom CubeDudes concepts, will be adding to the Star Wars CubeDudes population with a set of five bounty hunters from The Empire Strikes Back -- 4-LOM, Dengar, Boba Fett, IG-88, and Bossk -- to be offered as an exclusive to Celebration V attendees.

Force Unleashed Preorder Bonuses at Gamestop and Amazon
As reported at worthplaying.com, the following preorder bonuses for Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 are being offered at Gamestop and Amazon.  Note:  Amazon is also offering a $10 future game purchase code as well:

Exclusive Maulkiller pack, available through pre-order from GameStop:

  • Exclusive Character: Maulkiller - In the cloning facilities of Kamino, Darth Vader created a warrior of unparalleled strength and power by combining the genetic material of Darth Maul, former apprentice of Sith Lord Darth Sidious, with his own apprentice, Starkiller. The resulting aberrant clone possessed traits from both warriors, but the crude fusion of two disparate Force users quickly produced physical and mental instabilities that led to the unfortunate clone’s destruction. For a brief time he struck fear into the hearts of all who faced him, even Lord Vader himself.
  • Exclusive Maulkiller Silver Saber Crystal – The perfect compliment to Maulkiller's appearance, the silver crystal make his dual lightsabers look like an extension of the silver Zabrac styled tattoos that cover his body and face. This powerful crystal allows Maulkiller to consume less Force Energy so he can devastate his enemies.

Two Exclusive Challenge Levels, available through pre-order from Amazon

  • Exclusive Challenge: The Mystical Swamps of Dagobah - Explore the mystical swamps of Dagobah in this exclusive challenge. The setting for this challenge is an abstract version of the Dagobah level in the game. Yoda is testing your skills with this dreamlike space. Use Force Grip to lift objects out of the swampy depths of the surface of Dagobah and use them to navigate to your goal. The faster you can do this the more your rewards will be. Beware! Danger lurks just below the smoky surface of the water. The stone pillars you Force Grip and lift out of the murky waters aren’t stable and can collapse at any time, the water is toxic too – wait too long on a platform and suffer the consequences.
  • Exclusive Challenge: Defend "The Core" - Defend "The Core" by using all your Force Powers and expertise with the lightsaber for as long as you can. Survive for more than 1 minute to complete the challenge. Mastering this challenge could take much longer. Score bonuses are awarded for surviving for longer and killing enemies with impunity.

Writer and Executive Producer Leaves TFU 2
As reported at gamespy.com:

Haden Blackman has unleashed himself from LucasArts. The writer and executive producer of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and its upcoming sequel has suddenly resigned after 13 years with the company.

LucasArts was quick to say development of The Force Unleashed 2 won't be impacted, but the timing of the move is certainly a head scratcher with the game set to ship on October 26.

"I've had a fantastic time working with the team at Lucasfilm and am really grateful for their ongoing support," Blackman said in a short statement. "While the decision to leave LucasArts did not happen overnight or come easily, I really feel that now is the best time for me to move on and explore new creative challenges and I look forward to the next phase of my career."

For its part, LucasArts had nothing but praise for Blackman. "After 13 years of service, Haden Blackman has resigned from LucasArts. From launching Behind the Magic to delivering Star Wars: The Force Unleashed I and II, Haden has been an invaluable member of the team during his tenure with the company," the company said in its own statement. "We are extremely grateful for his many contributions, fully support him in his new endeavors and wish him all the best in the future."

Posted at TheFlickCast.com:

For those Family Guy fans who have been impatiently waiting for the next installment of their Star Wars parody series, you need wait no longer. Seth McFarlane and crew have taken on the last film of the original series, Return of the Jedi.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced that the new film, Family Guy: It’s a Trap! will be available right in time for Christmas. It will be available in both Blu-ray and DVD formats. Those lucky enough to get into the Comic-Con panel received a 10 minute preview of the new spoof and from various reports it doesn’t disappoint. The rest of us will unfortunately have to wait until December to get a glimpse.

The press release is touting an all-star array of guest stars including Adam West and Carrie Fisher. We also have the privilege of having Patrick Stewart and Michael Dorn reprise their Star Trek roles once again. For those who have not purchased the previous two films, it was also announced that they will be releasing a triple-pack of all three Star Wars spoofs.

Five Clubs, Five Patches for C5

Five of the largest Star Wars collecting clubs in the US are pleased to announce a set of five themed patches for Star Wars Celebration 5. The participating clubs are The Washington DC Area Star Wars Collecting Club (DCSWCC), The Kentucky Star Wars Collectors Club (KSWCC), The Ohio Star Wars Collectors Club (OSWCC), The Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society (PSWCS), and the Star Wars Grand Florida Alliance (SWGFA). The five triangular embroidered patches, each sponsored by one of the clubs, fit together like a puzzle to form a larger image of Boba Fett, the show's de facto mascot. Design and artwork for the patches was provided by long-time web cartoonist Bill Cable.

All five patches will be available exclusively at Star Wars Celebration 5 and free to attendees, but quantities are extremely limited. Each club will be distributing their sponsored patch in a different way, which will be announced separately.

Family Guy Panel: No More Star Wars Spoofs?

Posted at HollywoodReporter.com:

At the Comic-Con "Family Guy" panel, producers showed a nine-minute preview of its upcoming "Return of the Jedi" spoof -- but ruled out spoofing the prequels.

"This last one almost killed us," creator Seth MacFarlane said. "It would be too expensive. The problem is we try to be as faithful as possible to the look of those movies to do that with the prequels, I don't think TV budgets have reached that level yet."

Added Alex ("Lois") Borstein: "That, and they sucked." MacFarlane also ruled out doing more big franchise movie spoofs ... except, possibly, Indiana Jones. "We may tackle Indiana Jones," he said. "There's no one quite like LucasFilm for allowing us to do what we do."

The "Jedi" parody is titled "It's a Trap!" and the nine-minute preview was hilarious, better than the show's "Empire Strikes Back" spoof.

Darth Vader: Bank Robber!

Posted at Gothamist.com:

The Long Island bank robber who disguised himself as Darth Vader wasn't afraid to use force. Witnesses tell Newsday (paywall) that when Vader entered the Chase bank in Setauket, everyone thought it was just a gag. A muscular customer at the counter jokingly tried to put his arms around Vader, at which point the 6'2" former Jedi threw him to the ground, pointed the gun at him and said, "I'll shoot you in the face. This isn't a joke." And for the first time in history, a grown man in a Star Wars costume successfully stopped people from laughing at him.

Turning back to the counter, Vader demanded cash from the teller. But as he waited for the hand-off, another woman entered the bank. Sensing a disturbance in the Force, he swung around and pointed his gun at her, declaring, "Not today, lady. Find a different bank." Grabbing the cash, he took off running east, knocking over a bagel shop customer who was as clumsy as he was stupid.

An Air Force veteran inside the bagel store who saw Vader run by tells Newsday he thinks the thief has military training, observing, "He knows what he's doing with the gun. He wasn't holding it like a cowboy." Suffolk county police have made no arrests, but they have dispatched one of their best rookies to the Dagobah system to dig up leads.
