Review: Dr. Henry Jones, Sr. Sideshow Exclusive Edition!
The path to
what you seek most is a perilous road beset with obstacles and
setbacks, but perseverance and faith will ultimately carry you
to your destination.
That theme
is prevalent in the Grail Quest of The Last Crusade. In a less
intense and more generalized sense, it can also apply to
Sideshow Collectibles’ 1:6 scale Indiana Jones product line.
The inaugural figure—Raiders of the Lost Ark Indy—filled
collectors with exhilaration and hope, but it proved to be
disastrous due to the excessively floppy Prometheus base body.
German Soldier Indy was an unnecessary and unwanted entry this
early in the line, and Toht’s glasses and exclusive Ark of the
Covenant failed to fully deliver on expectations. By the time
Henry Jones Sr. was announced, collectors were disillusioned
with the series, and many of the figures languished on Second
Chance. In fact, only Henry and Raiders Indy are sold out.
German Soldier Indy and both versions of Belloq are available as
is the exclusive edition of Toht. When the temporarily-sold out
Crystal Skull Indy starts shipping, the exclusive is bound to go
on Second Chance due to the $175 MSRP.
But for
those collectors who endured and held out hope for a truly great
entry in the line, their faith has been rewarded, and Dr. Henry
Jones Sr. has become the shining star of this struggling line.

images below for the full review, which includes over 25

Back in 1977 no one could have imaged that Luke
Skywalkers line from A New Hope would be a TV series some 30 years
later. A series that would show a lot more of one of the most popular
movie characters ever: Yoda. For this series Yoda's voice was done
by Tom Kane, an experienced voice over actor who has a very long
résumé regarding work he has done for Lucasfilm. In
February 2010 I had the following interview with him. Since I am
a fan of Star Wars, Yoda, and his work it was a real honor. Enjoy!

Hasbro
Press Release - AT-AT Official Word!
STAR WARS AT-AT - (Approximate
Retail Value: $99.99; Ages: 5 & up; Available: August 1, 2010)
In space, size does matter, and Hasbro certainly kept that in mind
when creating its all-new, highly detailed STAR WARS AT-AT. The
AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) played a significant role
in the Empire’s military assault in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK,
and it will play an equally important role in every fan’s
toy collection this year!
Measuring more than 24 inches tall, nearly 28 inches
long, and 12 inches wide, this colossal vehicle holds up to 20 STAR
WARS figures – 6 of which can fit in its head alone! –
and includes so many play and electronic features true to its on-screen
counterpart that it’s hard to believe!
From the zip-line in its body and articulated legs
for superb poseability, to its LED lights and authentic movie sounds
and phrases, this is the must-have addition for STAR WARS fans of
all ages. Includes a 3 ¾ inch AT-AT driver action figure
and a pop-out speeder bike.
Darth Vader star David Prowse yesterday spoke
of his joy at winning his year-long battle with prostate cancer.
Star Wars actor David, 74, who played the 6ft 6in villain in the
first three films, got the all-clear last month.
The former body-builder - and TV's Green Cross Code - stunned
doctors by making a full recovery after intensive radiotherapy at
London's Royal Marsden Hospital.
Speaking from his home in Croydon, Surrey, David said: "I've
won the fight and I'm feeling better than ever. Everyone was shocked
by how well it all went."
David admits he was lucky to be diagnosed early after a Prostate
Cancer Support Association worker urged him to ask his GP for a
blood test.
Now David, whose brother also beat the disease, advises men
over 50 to get tested. He said: "I've had people saying I've
saved their lives. I got the same with the Green Cross Code, it's
happening again."

New
Hasbro Star Wars Q&A!
Check out the next Yodasnews Hasbro Q&A below!
YN: I love the OTC figures you've been doing lately, specifically
the cantina aliens. Keep up the good work. I display the new stuff
and some vintage Kenner stuff as well in my collection. Recently
I was comparing my robust collection of modern cantina aliens
to the 5 (Blue Snaggletooth) vintage cantina figures and realized
how sorry a lot they are. I would love to fill out the old Kenner
cantina playset with some more figures. To that end, do you think
it would ever be possible to produce new "Kenner" style
figures (5 points of articulation) of some different cantina aliens
as either a pack in to a battle pack or a mail away figure? I'd
love to see your take on what Dr. Evazon or Brainiac would have
looked like if they actually were produced in the original Kenner
run with some 70's deco. I know that this would mostly be collector
focused and that it could be argued that figures like Wuher and
Dr. Evazon could already be considered in that style in their
current form but they're not really the same. Give it some consideration.
Hasbro: We have looked at this numerous times over the past
couple of years, and have decided that we would move forward with
the new sculpting, deco, and articulation, rather than look back.
The reason is that there are a lot of diverse collecting interests
in Star Wars, but we need to keep focused on the heart and soul
of collector demand, which is the realistic-style modern aesthetic.
There will be one important exception to this that we will announce
officially at Toy Fare in a couple weeks, but there will not be
any return to the simpler style of figures we grew up with.
YN: The Deena Shan in Imperial uniform disguise variant (with
the sculpted hair bun) was pretty difficult to find. While it
would seem unlikely to ever be reissued in a comic pack at this
point, would it be possible to consider adding this figure when
putting together an Imperial troop builder battle pack? Or even
just changing the hair color so that we could have this sculpt?
Hasbro: It's unlikely that we would issue the female trooper
again unless there was a specific storyline context given, since
any female Imperials remain a strictly an EU-based concept. Our
focus for the next couple of years will be on the movies with
only occasional EU forays, so we don't see this one coming back
out for a long while, if ever.
