Wizard World Philadelphia kicked off yesterday
at the PA Convention Center and PSWCS member Jace kicks off
our coverage for Day 1. Our own Yoda027 will be on hand on
Sunday for Day 3 Coverage, if you see him be sure to say
Hello! Check out Jace's Day 1 Report below:
Wizard World 2008 started as usual by standing
in line. LOL aren't cons all about standing in lines, after
all? There were two sets of lines one for VIP and one for
regular tickets. The VIP ticket was pretty long because
there seemed to be more VIP packages than the last time
I had attended (2006).
The bad part about the VIP line was you waited in line
and got your VIP gifts. After that you had to go into another
line to get your badges but the lines crossed one another
causing mass confusion. Despite there being volunteers
there, no one was directing traffic at this area so fans
were getting very confused.
Personally I purchased two VIP tickets-one for me and
one for my Dad who came along with me. I got for him the
Star Wars VIP ticket which included the light-up Obi-Wan
bust which is exclusive to Wizard World, the Darth Vader
vs. Luke Skywalker ROTJ movie statue, and 35 Star Wars
Darkhorse comics. For myself I got the Toyfare Silver VIP
package which came with so many busts and action figures
it came in a big box which I honestly put in the car and
didn't open yet because it was so bulky.
The convention opened at noon and despite VIPs getting
advanced entry that's about when I entered due to where
I was in line. Immediately I went to the Wizard booth and
purchased the exclusive Batman, Superman, and Mr. Freeze
action figures that were on sale and I pre-ordered the
Heroes Peter Petrelli action figures. The Heroes figures
has 2 variants-one half invisible, half visible and the
other completely invisible.

LEGO Star Wars and The Force Unleashed, among others, available

has yet to develop a fully exclusive project designed specifically
for Wii. That may be about to change, however, if an advertisement
showing up on the back sleeve of the instruction booklet
for LEGO Indiana Jones is any indication.
Evidently, the company is underway with a Wii and DS-only
title based on the upcoming movie and animated series, Star
Wars: The Clone Wars. Take a look for yourself -- we've snapped
a quick photo of the advertisement in question.

White
TIE Fighter Variant?
Yodasnews reader Morgan reports in:
"Hello, I purchased one White TIE Fighter
from TRU that was "clean" white without ANY accent
and then just yesterday at a different TRU store found one
that is covered with light grey accents giving it a " dirty" or "battle
damaged" appearance. Photos attached."
Thanks Morgan! Check out the pics below (click

Harrison Ford has vowed he will never reprise
his role as HAN SOLO - the character which shot him to global
superstardom in STAR WARS.
The 65-year-old actor is currently basking
in the success of his latest movie Indiana Jones and the
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - which has become a major box
office hit 17 years after his first appearance as the intrepid
archeologist. But although Ford is grateful for the career
boost afforded to him by Star Wars when he was a struggling
actor, he would never consider returning to the sc-fi franchise
as the character is too dull.
He says, "Han Solo isn't interesting
to me. It's a very narrow sort of utility in the story and
it was great for my career and it was fun to play at the
time but I wouldn't go back there again. Those pants! " There
are characters that it seems to me are worth re-exploring
given that the story advances your understanding of the character,
deepens your relationship to that character and takes you
into an area that's new and unexpected. " Some characters
are decidedly one off kind of characters. Some characters
don't outlive the movie."

Review:
Yoda on Kybuck Maquette (Clone Wars Animated)
Since the inception of its Star Wars license in 2002, Gentle
Giant has certainly dabbled in a variety of products—mini-busts,
Bust-Ups, bookends, and maquettes to name a few. When
the first Clone Wars cartoon aired, they capitalized on its
popularity and brought the highly-stylized 2-D animation
to 3-D realization as part of their ever growing maquette
line. The Clone Wars Animated maquettes were a limited
run of various characters from the series and averaged around
$80 each with a few exceptions.
Today’s review takes an in-depth look at one of the
more dynamic entries in the series—Yoda riding his
trusted Kybuck into the heat of battle.
As much as I hate to see extra-crappy Star
Wars merchandise, I have to admit I would have loved to own
a lightsaber-style fishing rod when I was a kid. Ok, that’s
not entirely true. If I had the opportunity to go fishing
more than once a year, I would probably buy one today too.
And in addition to the lightsaber fishing rod you’ll
soon be able to buy a slightly less-clever tackle box adorned
with various Star Wars graphics, and a Darth Vader Fun Net
which doesn’t actually seem that much funner than a
regular net. This is also apparently just the first wave
of Star Wars themed fishing accessories, and in the future
there will be more products that could even feature a Clone
Wars theme, which makes sense given the upcoming animated
film.

Spotlight #9: Revenge of the Jedi Ewok Costume
Before we post our latest spotlight, we have 2 follow up
items. The first, is to annouce our first winner of a Yodasnews.com
Polo Shirt, from the first 8 submissions. The first winner
is from Ebay Spotlight #5, Congrats Jed!
The second follow up comes from Frank, about Spotlight #8
(The Fork and Spoon Set):
"I discovered these last year at LearningCurve.com.
They were sold for $1.99 plus shipping and are really great.
I just checked and they are no longer listed. However,
the Darth Vader plate/bowl/spoon set is still available
for $5.99 and is also great. The plate is very sturdy and
we use it every day in my house. Not an incredible update,
but a nice companion/alternative to the Ebay listing."
Thanks Frank, we apprciate the update!
Now, on to spotlight #9, this one is sent in from Keith
in Ohio.
"Here is my entry for the ebay spotlight. I have
always been a collector of "Revenge" items and
this is the first I have seen of this on ebay, it's not
something I would pick up (but would think about it actually
if it was not signed), but it is for a signed (but he does
not have a pic yet according to the auction) Revenge of
the Jedi Ewok Costume signed by Warrick Davis in really
nice condition"
Very cool find! Thanks for sending it in.Click

A pair of Jedi heroes get the front cover
treatment in a pair of forthcoming Star Wars books.
For younger readers, Scholastic Inc. is giving Obi-Wan Kenobi the similar
biography treatment they gave Darth Vader recently, with Star Wars: The
Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi. This unique examination of the six-part
movie saga centers around Obi-Wan, and his evolving role as Jedi, General,
hermit and mentor. It is written by Ryder Windham, with cover and slipcase
art by Hugh Fleming. It is due out in October of 2008.
Also due out in October is Luke Skywalker and the Shadows
of Mindor, an original hardcover novel by Matthew Stover
from Del Rey Books. Randomhouse.com recently unveiled the
cover, but here's a closer look at the cover text:
Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader are dead. The Empire
has been toppled by the triumphant Rebel Alliance, and the
New Republic is ascendant. But the struggle against the dark
side and the Sith order is not over. Luke Skywalker, Princess
Leia, Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, and their faithful comrades
have had little time to savor victory before being called
on to defend the newly liberated galaxy.
The Washington DC Metro Area Star Wars Collecting
Club (DCSWCC) is proud to announce their third bi-annual charity
lapel pin sale.
The 2008 pin features animated Boba Fett with DCSWCC’s
signature Washington Monument as his rocket, in honor of the
30th anniversary of his appearance in The Star Wars Holiday
Special. Third in DCSWCC’s series of high-quality cloisonné lapel
pins, officially sanctioned by Lucasfilm Ltd., each pin is
individually stamped and numbered on the back. Only 1000 will
ever be made.
All proceeds from the sales of this pin benefit the Aluminum
Cans for Burned Children Program, whose mission is to prevent
burns and improve the quality of life for young burn survivors
and their families in the Mid-Atlantic region. ACBC provides
funding for research, annual therapeutic residential burn camps,
and other year-round activities that support their physical,
psychological, and social needs. For more information about
ACBC, visit their website at acbcprogram.org.
DCSWCC has a rich history of supporting children’s charities
in the Washington DC region. Their previous charity pins featured
Yoda and Chewbacca, and netted almost $10,000 for DC Children’s
Hospital and The Children’s Inn at NIH. To order your
Boba Fett pin, visit http://store.dcswcc.org today!

New
Hasbro Q&A!
Check out the next Yodasnews Hasbro Q&A below! But first,
a message from the Star Wars brand team:
We have noticed on some boards that some collectors
are deciding to wait until the Target-exclusive Order 66
sets go on sale before pouncing. This year, Target has
advised us that the order 66 sets will not go on sale when
they come off the checklane endcaps and will extend at
regular pricing in the planogram. We think that those fans
waiting may be disappointed when the ones they want sell
out. If there are certain army builders or characters that
collectors had their eyes on, they might not want to wait...
YN: First, thank you for confirming the release of an
SA sculpt Gray Coruscant Clone. Can you confirm that he
will be the sculpt that uses the communications antenna
and will the antenna be included with him?
Second, you say that you will not be continuing the TFU
and SL Fan’s Choice waves through till July. I’m
not so much worried about the TFU wave, I’ve seen
plenty of those around in my area. My concern is regarding
the Fan’s Choice wave of Saga Legends figures. These
figures were voted for by the fans, and thus are the ones
that we would like to see at retail the most. Packing them
one per case pack does not allow everyone who wants them
to get them. Especially since the other 7 figures you included
in the case pack (specifically referring to case pack W4
R1 08) were already peg warmers, and have now plugged up
the pegs even more.
I still would like to see more Darktroopers as I didn’t
have a chance to get the amount of them I wanted, and I
still know other people who never found them. And, as an
army-builder, if you cut me off short of my Commander Neyo
and Covert Ops Clone wants, I’m going to be completely
buggered! So my question is this, is there any chance that
you will be releasing solid cases of the 5 fan’s
choice figures in the US before they are discontinued?
Or perhaps a case pack that contains multiples of each
and no other previously released pack-ins? Do you have
some plan in mind that will get these figures to the people
who voted for them in the quantities they desire? Let’s
face it, most people don’t vote for clones so that
they can only buy one.
H: 1) We can confirm the gray Coruscant clone will be
the antenna sculpt and he will have it.
2) Regarding the Saga Legends fans' choice figures, Mark
- there was no possible way to release solid packs or just
case packs of those figures for collectors for two reasons:
a) This is counter to the very successful strategy we have
developed that keeps Saga Legends productive at a high
level, and that is delivering a mix of kid and collector-targeted
figures in every case pack; b) We cannot put multiples
in a case pack because we can only produce so many figures
of any character per week/month. We have been running all
of them at capacity since we slotted them in...and have
put a large number of the fans' choice figures back out
there. Unfortunately, it will just take time and searching
to track them down but we are getting them out there. The
demand on some, like Darktrooper, has been so high that
we are looking for another way to bring him back out down
the road.
YN: Upon examination of the new Jedi Starfighter for
the Galactic Heroes line, I noticed that the R4 droid is
located in the wrong place: the droid sits in front of
the cockpit instead of the side of the cockpit. I am curious
as to why Hasbro chose this position instead of the movie-accurate
position. Thanks!
H: This is the position of the droids in the upcoming
Clone Wars animation Starfighters. Given the age-target
of Galactic Heroes, we decided that collectors who accept
this rationale and kids will get a screen-accurate version
of their own.
YN: Are there plans for more Ultimate Galactic Hunt chase
figures this year? If so will they be part of the Legacy
collection, Clone Wars collection, or both?
H: There are no plans for UGH exactly as UGH has been,
but the successor is the "First Day of Issue" foil
variants which will be available for the Clone Wars and
Legacy/Droid Factory lines on 7/26. Beyond that we don't
have plans for UGH in Fall '08/Spring '09.
You can now send Hallmark e-cards that feature
original scenes from select Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies.
Hallmark.com is introducing three new e-cards on Monday,
May 19, licensed by Lucasfilm.
There are two birthday e-cards and one Father's
Day e-card comprised of scenes from the classic Indiana Jones
films. One of the birthday cards plays the scene of Indy
running from the rolling boulder in Raiders of the Lost Ark
-- one of the most famous scenes in movie history. The e-card
message says 'Birthdays just have a way of sneaking up on
you.' The Father's Day e-card includes a film clip from Indiana
Jones and the Last Crusade and ends with a fitting message
'At least you didn't name me after the dog.' Each premium
card sells for $1.99.
"We are excited about launching the Indiana Jones
e-cards in conjunction with the upcoming movie release of
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," said
Elaine Stolze, web technology consultant, Hallmark Cards. "We
think the e-cards will resonate with our consumers, because
they include some of most memorable scenes from the classic
Lucasfilm library, and will help people connect and show
someone they care in a fun way."
For anniversary celebrations, Hallmark.com is introducing
a Star Wars premium e-card with scenes featuring Han Solo
and Princess Leia from the classic trilogy (look for it this
weekend!).
It's vintage overload here at Brian's Toys! We've added
tons more products to our already huge selection of Star

Harrison
Ford Interview!
Taylor Johnson from MSN.com reports in:
I recently hosted an exclusive interview with
Harrison Ford at the Cannes Film Festival this week to talk
about his new film “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of
the Crystal Skull”. In the interview I asked Harrison
if George Lucas were to ask him to reprise his role as Hans
Solo, would he indeed return to “Star Wars”.
The world's most famous globetrotting archaeologist is back in a
big way! Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hits
theatres today and you won't believe your eyes. It's an older Indy
than we're used to but he's still at the top of his game!
Also remember exclusively for Yodasnews.com readers in Celebration

Star
Wars Action News Update
This week on Star Wars Action News, it's episode 1-4-3 and
as those of you with old school pagers know, 1-4-3 means "I
love you." As such, the hosts of Star Wars Action News
take some time this week to remember why they love Star Wars
and Star Wars collecting.
In addition, last Tuesday saw the release of the final Legacy
of the Force novel, Invincible by Troy Denning. Brock finished
the book and provides a spoiler-free review, and Arnie sat
down with Troy Denning at Borders in Oak Brook, IL to discuss
some of the book's plot points. If you've read Invincible
this is an interview not to miss! (and if you've not read
Invincible, save this show in a special location on your
hard drive to listen to as soon as you finish the final page).
With a poll of the week, Scott From Tulsa's store report,
and an update on Red 5's charity walk, we really hope you
enjoy this week's Star Wars Action News.

Review:
Tri-Droid (30th Anniversary Collection)
Every so often, Hasbro throws a curve ball and truly surprises
collectors with basic figure entries that many never expected
to see. 2008 seems to be a year where “expect the unexpected” is
going to be the unofficial motto of the Star Wars line. The
first wave alone holds several surprises such as multiple
figures with ball-jointed hips and two background droids.
Today’s review looks at one of those two droids in
the first wave: the Techno Union’s Octuptarra Tri-Droid.

Review: Indiana Jones with the Crystal Skull!
Our sister
site Indiana
Jones Collectors posted a new in-depth of the Indiana
Jones with the Crystal Skull Review, check it out:
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the
Crystal Skull brings us an Indy that is as sly and daring
as before. Age hasn’t slowed him down, and the
forces of evil are just as strong even if the faces have
changed. Leaving behind an era of Christian relics,
Indiana now finds himself in search of a very alien-esque
artifact that can harness the psychic powers of the mind. Of
course, he must find it before the Soviets do.
With such a compelling story, it would
be foolish to exclude a figure of Indy carrying this particular
prize. Fortunately, Hasbro gave us such a figure in
its inaugural Crystal Skull wave. With the Crystal
Skull of Akator in hand, this figure shows us just how much
and how little the years have changed Indiana Jones.
Jimmy Smits will reprise his role as Bail
Organa in the upcoming video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed,
which has release date set for September 16, 2008. The Star
Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed,
a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as
Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises
to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The
expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas,
is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars:
Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV
A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain
in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions
that could change the course of their destiny.

A couple of weeks ago, X-Play got an exclusive
look at the Duel Mode in the Wii version of Star Wars: The
Force Unleashed. It seemed like a ton of fun, and I figured
that while it wouldn’t be as awesome to swing around
a lightsaber with two analog sticks, it’d still be
plenty satisfying. Unfortunately, LucasArts has announced
that the HD current-gen (yeah, I said it) versions of the
game — i.e., the PS3 and 360 versions — will
not have any multiplayer component.

Sideshow
Update!
SideshowCollectibles.com updates
with a sneak peek at Sideshow Collectibles’ long-awaited
Darth Vader 1:6 scale figure! The Sith Lord is currently
in development at Sideshow.
Our sister
site Indiana
Jones Collectors posted a new in-depth Indiana Jones
Irina Spalko Review, check it out:
Nearly
as memorable as Indiana Jones and his adventures are the
formidable villains he has confronted during his cinematic
quests. First, there was Indy’s professional rival
and greatest adversary, the amoral curator-turned-mercenary
Rene Belloq. Then came the sadistic Thuggee priest
Mola Ram. Finally, there was the power-hungry Nazi
sympathizer Walter Donovan. All were unique and presented
Indy with different physical and psychological challenges.
Indiana
Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is
no different. In addition to bringing Indy out
of the pre-war years and into the early years of the
Cold War, this adventure pits our hero against Soviet
agent Irina Spalko, a villainess with her own brand of
evil and a fixation on the potential for psychic powers
as a Soviet weapon. By all accounts, Spalko is
poised to be one of Indy’s greatest challenges yet.
The next chapter in the Star Wars saga debuts
this summer in the Star Wars: Clone Wars CGI animated film,
and now four of the film's major characters have been turned
into super-deformed plushes, ready to enthrall the next generation
of Star Wars fans! With characters like Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi,
Anakin Skywalker, and the Clone Trooper to choose from, these
plushes are both huggable and luggable!
Urban vinyl is one of the hottest properties on the market
today, and Hasbro has jumped on that trend like nobody’s
business with their Mighty Muggs line of action figures.
With series 1 through 3 selling out everywhere, Series 4
is sure to be hot, especially with such mainstream characters
as Yoda, Emperor Palpatine, Luke Skywalker and General Grievous!
Wave 3 is still in stock as well, so don’t forget to
grab Princess Leia, Commander Cody, Jango Fett and Lando!
(Can of Colt .45 not included.)

Hasbro
Signature Series Launches!
We have been waiting for this news since Toy
Fair this past February and now we have our first taste posted
at Hasbro.com:
“An elegant weapon from a more civilized time” finds
a new home at Hasbro within the Hasbro Signature Series brand.
The Force FX Lightsaber collectibles embody all the technological
wonder of the Jedi icon...
A man who dressed up as Darth Vader, wearing
a garbage bag for a cape, and assaulted the founders of a
group calling itself the Jedi church was given a suspended
sentence Tuesday.
Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, attacked Jedi church founder Barney Jones — aka
Master Jonba Hehol — with a metal crutch, hitting him on the head,
prosecutors told Holyhead Magistrates' Court.
He also whacked Jones' 18-year-old cousin, Michael Jones — known
as Master Mormi Hehol — bruising his thigh in the March
25 incident, prosecutors said. The two cousins and
Barney Jones' brother, Daniel, set up the Church of Jediism,
Anglesey order, last year. Jedi is the faith followed by
some of the central characters in the "Star Wars" films.
The group, which claims about 30 members, says on its Web
site that it uses "insight and knowledge" from
the films as "a guide to living a better and more worthwhile
life."
"We all love the films and what they stand for. Obviously
some people are going to laugh about it," the Wales
on Sunday newspaper quoted Barney Jones as saying last month. "But
a lot of people do take it seriously."
Unfortunately for Hughes, his March attack was recorded
on a video camera that the cousins had set up to film themselves
in a light saber battle.
"Darth Vader! Jedis!" Hughes shouted as he approached.
Hughes claimed he couldn't remember the incident, having
drunk the better part of a 2 1/2-gallon (10-liter) box of
wine beforehand. "He knows his behavior was wrong
and didn't want it to happen but he has no recollection of
it," said Hughes' lawyer, Frances Jones.
District Judge Andrew Shaw sentenced Hughes to two months
in jail but suspended the sentence for one year. He also
ordered Hughes to pay $195 to each of his victims and $117
in court costs. In the 2001 United Kingdom census,
390,000 — 0.7 percent of the population — listed
Jedi as their religion.

Lawrence Noble, the talented sculptor who has created many
stunning original works, including the bronze statue of Jedi
Master Yoda installed at Lucasfilm's offices in the Presidio,
San Francisco, will be sculpting live during Star Wars Celebration
Japan. Noble is scheduled to work as part of the Celebration
Japan Art Show, and will be talking with fans as he creates
a one-of-a-kind, life-sized bust of a beloved Star Wars character
from the saga.
What's more, one extremely fortunate fan who attends Celebration
Japan will be selected to receive the completed, original sculpt!
Noble plans to sculpt a life-sized, head and shoulders bust
of Luke Skywalker from the original Star Wars trilogy. This
priceless piece will be cast under Noble's direction after
the show, then shipped to the winner's place of residence by
Lewis Daniel Group, co-producers with Lucasfilm of Star Wars
Celebration Japan.
Noble's many achievements include designing numerous motion
picture advertising campaigns, like The Empire Strikes Back
10th anniversary poster. Danbury Mint selected him to design
and produce the Star Wars chess set. He has been commissioned
to create many works since, including a bronze bust of Gene
Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek.
Actress and popular performer Carrie Fisher
is scheduled to appear at Star Wars Celebration Japan, the
three-day festival set for July 19-21 near Tokyo. Fisher, who
portrayed the heroic Princess Leia in the original Star Wars
trilogy, has recently been traveling with her successful one-woman
stage show, Wishful Drinking.
Always a favorite with audiences and Star Wars fans, Fisher
is scheduled to appear daily in the Celebration Japan autograph
hall to sign autographs and meet fans in person. She will
also appear on stage for what is sure to be a lively
and entertaining
interview.
A Star Wars-obsessed couple tied the knot
dressed as the film’s two main characters as Obi Wan
Kenobi, Chewbacca and a battalion of stormtroopers looked
on.
Window cleaner Bramwell Brightey, 33, dressed as Han Solo and
his girlfriend Tamsyn Lofts, 29, wore a Princess Leia outfit.
The pair, who have seen the film more 500 times each, said
they opted for their surreal nuptials because church weddings
bored them.
They had intended to have their wedding the Sunday before
last so their invites would read "May the 4th Be With
You", but because of date clashes for some guests they
plumped for this weekend instead.
Ledafilms is at the L.A. Screenings this week
offering Latin American buyers Lucasfilm Animation’s
Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The property is slated to premiere as a theatrical feature
on August 15, followed up by a TV series on Cartoon Network. “We’re
very honored to have been designated by Lucasfilm as their
sales agents and we’re very excited,” said Pedro
Félix Leda, the president of Ledafilms. “Star
Wars: The Clone Wars is surely the most ambitious television
project to date. Free-to-air broadcasters in our region will
immediately recognize the extraordinary potential of this super
exceptional production.”
“We’re very pleased to have named Ledafilms as
the distributor for our product for free-to-air channels in
Latin America,” said Tom Quinn at Lucasfilm Worldwide
Distribution. “The Ledafilms team did an exceptional
job recently of licensing the rights to free-to-air television
of the Indiana Jones movies, including Indiana Jones and the
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and we’re sure that they
will have the same success with our new Star Wars production.”
Those who love the host of toys and pop culture treasures inspired by the Star
Wars Saga will love the fascinating Star Wars collecting shows coming this July
19-21 at Celebration Japan.
What's more, those attending the shows will have the chance
to take home rare, two-inch pewter medallions commemorating
classic Star Wars toys released in Japan in 1978. These medallions,
twelve different designs in all, were created by passionate
Star Wars collectors especially for the fans at Celebration
Japan. They will be given away for free at random times during
the Celebration Japan collecting panels.
Gus Lopez, who has coordinated the Star Wars collecting panels
for Celebrations in the U.S. and London, is once again inviting
some of the most knowledgeable and entertaining Star Wars collectors
to talk about their passion. Among the speakers are notable
Japanese collectors, who will talk about the exceptionally
rich world of Japanese Star Wars toys and collectibles.
The collecting panels, scheduled to start each day at 2:00
pm Saturday through Monday, will feature great information
and discussions for serious collectors, as well as entertainment
and fun for those who love popular culture and Star Wars. Thanks
to the help of dedicated sponsors, attendees at the panels
could one or more of the extremely limited, exclusive give-aways.
The solid pewter medallions, designed by artist and Star Wars
collector Jeff Correll, feature imagery based on actual Japanese
toys, and were designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary
of Star Wars in Japan.
"This pewter medallion give-away is limited to 350 of
each," says Lopez, himself an uber-collector of Star Wars
treasures. "They will be distributed individually to audience
members at the twelve different panels."
The medallions will be amazing collectibles, and represent
wonderful memories of a weekend spent celebrating 30 years
of Star Wars and all that is to come.

Urban-Collector.com
Update!
Hi Everyone! This week we are highlighting several
new arrivals and some cool new pre-orders. Stop by Urban
Collector to find these and many more collectible items.
Rancors with blue stripes, Stormtroopers in black armor,
Darth Vader with slashes across his chest, battle droids
on STAPs and Wampas and Tauntauns...these are the things
people are hunting for. This week on Star Wars Action News,
our Toys R Us employee bothan spy tells us which of these
are showing up at Toys R Us, and in what quantity, and then
our listeners fill us in on what they've been finding.
Also this week, we take a close look at the remaining 5
Force Unleashed figures, Battle Damaged Darth Vader, Rahm
Kota, The Shadow Guard, the EVO Trooper, and the Jumptrooper.
Are these worth hunting for, and will the be on pegs for
much longer? Listen to find out!
Finally, we have another e-bay charity auction this week
to sponsor forum member Red 5's part in the Cystic Fibrosis
Great Strides Walk in Dallas Tx May 17th, 2008. Thanks to
a lister's donation we are auctioning off a Gentle Giant
animated R2-D2 Yoda maquette!
Tuesday, May 13 marked the finale of the epic
nine-book Legacy of the Force series with the release of Invincible
from Del Rey Books, the ninth and final book in hardcover by
Troy Denning.
As part of this release, Denning will be embarking on a signing
tour. The currently scheduled dates are below. Check with the
local bookstores as the dates approach for any last minute
changes.
5/14/2008 -
7:30 pm -
Borders Books
Oak Brook, IL
5/15/2008 - 7 pm -
Barnes & Noble -
Carmel, IN
5/17/2008 -
1 pm -
Free Library of Philadelphia (Central Library)
With the ad for a new book, entitled Millennium
Falcon appearing at the end of the newest Legacy of the Force
book Invincible (on store shelves tomorrow) it was widely suspected
that this meant Del Rey's contract with Lucasfilm for more
Star Wars books was extended.
We contacted our sources at Del Rey and we can now confirm
this to be the case! Per our contact from Del Rey, Del
Rey has received an extended contract for more Star Wars novels. "There are sure
there will be more books into 2009" he said, but he
could not be more specific about the details of the contract,
how many years it covered, or how many books we may see.
He did confirm there would be new adult fiction as well as
companion books, like the Star Wars Encyclopedia being released
this fall
So that means more great Star Wars fiction to come from Del
Rey. We expect an official announcement from Lucasfilm's
Sue Rostoni to be forthcoming.
We just
received the Star Wars Gentle Giant
Snowtrooper and
Hammerhead Classics Busts and are offering them for only
$19.99 each! This offer is good for only a limited time.
VideoGamer.com conducted an interview with
Cameron Suey, the producer for the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox
360 versions of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. What everyone
(well, maybe not PC gamers) will be happy to hear is that
there will be a playable demo. No specific release date was
mentioned, other than Cameron stating "We definitely
want to get it out there." Maybe that will help in deciding
which version to go with if you have both the Xbox 360 and
PLAYSTATION 3.
Comparisons between the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION
3 releases are inevitable. Although Cameron stated getting
the game's
Havok, DMM and Euphoria engines working together was "a
little easier with the PS3," things such as loading
time will appear identical to players.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be released on September
16, 2008 in the United States, September 17 in Southeast Asia
and Australia, and September 19 in Europe. Watch for it on
the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii, PS2, Sony PSP and Nintendo
DS.

Hasbro Q&A!
Check out the next Yodasnews Hasbro Q&A below! Also,
because of a mix-up with our last round of questions, we
have a double shot this week that included our last session
questions as well as this round:
YN: The best figure(s) of 2007 have to be Romba and Graak
in my opinion, so good I couldn't find one in stores until
the re-release this spring. I'm very excited for Leektar
and Nippet as well, and am wondering what other ewok plans
you have for 2008? Plans for color variants? 2009? Any
plans for an ewok catapult? A female ewok? Please please
keep the ewoks and ewok accessories coming!
H: We hear you and love the little resistance fighters
ourselves! Right now, we don't have any additional Ewok
plans for 2008 beyond Leektar and Nippet. We do have plans
for a few more sets in 2009, but those details are still
being worked out. It won't be anything as big as the Ewok
Catapult, though.
YN: Thank you, thank you, thank you for making the Super
articulated version of the 501st Legion Trooper a reality.
This sculpt is truly the best clone sculpt available. And
an even bigger thanks for putting him 3 per case so he
wasn’t a pain in the butt to track down at retail.
I know that you guys get many sarcastic comments from other
collectors out there about releasing clones with “every
color under the sun,” but I just want you to know
that I personally appreciate and applaud your efforts.
With that said, in a previous Q&A you mentioned that
the Grey Coruscant Clone Trooper in SA sculpt (hint: with
antenna) would be a good suggestion for a future repaint
wave or Saga Legends type of release. And then, in a subsequent
Q&A, you mentioned that you will be doing a re-deco wave
in 2008 to fill in the void for a planned wave that has been
delayed. Dare I hope, dream, offer up my first born child
to the gods in trade that I might finally see said Grey Coruscant
Clone Trooper in the SA sculpt (again: with antenna) in this
so-called re-deco wave??? Please, please, please???
H: Yes indeed, we can confirm that as SA version of the
gray-deco Coruscant Landing Platform figure will be coming
in a redeco wave later this year.
YN: Will we be getting anymore Galactic Heroes Key chains?
And can you confirm that there are only 6 made so far,
with those six being Han Solo (Bespin), Luke Skywalker,
Yoda, Boba Fett, Darth Vader and Darth Tater ( Mr. Potato
Head )? And If there will be more made, any lists or images
you can share with us?
H: Those are the only ones that have been done to date.
We don't have plans to add any more characters to those
right now.
YN: (Indy Question) The image of the Grail Knight revealed
at Hasbrotoyshop.com looks fantastic. Does he sport plastic
or cloth robes?
H: Thanks - this is indeed one great figure. He will
have PVC (plastic) robes..
YN: We want to know if the Force Unleashed wave and
Wave 5 Legends with the Fan's Choice clones still ship
out to
retail until the Clone Wars toys start to hit?
H: No, they will not. All of the lines currently at
retail will phase out in June to prepare the shelves for
the 7/26 launch of the new lines. Fans should get them
while they can, because they won't be coming back.
YN: Target seems to have gotten a good dose of
exclusives
so far, any reason why they seem to nab up so many while
other chains and stores have gotten fewer? Did they simply
just ask for more?
H: Our exclusives strategy has been to match programs
with available space and promotional plans, and it has
worked out that some retailers at different times have
appeared to have more visibile programs than others. You
will see strong upcoming programs from all three retailers
this year, with Wal-Mart getting a strong start in July
with the debut of the Droid Factory 2-packs (featuring the
buildable C-3PX droid), as well as continuing their exclusive
comic 2-pack program with a new wave.
Trading Card fans will be happy to know that
on July 26th, a new set of Star Wars Collectible Cards will
hit the streets. As with most of the latest Star Wars cards,
they will have sketch cards, foil cards and several other chase
cards for both the hobby and retail boxes, click
here or the
image below for more info!

Special
Review: Indiana Jones!
Our sister
site Indiana
Jones Collectors posted a new in-depth Indiana Jones
Review, check it out:
In
addition to the theatrical and television debuts of Star
Wars: The Clone Wars and the massive multimedia event Star
Wars: The Force Unleashed, this Memorial Day will see
the long-awaited return of cinema’s most iconic adventurer. Indiana
Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull brings Junior
into the Cold War years, older but still as daring as ever. Of
course, as with any fantasy summer blockbuster, the merchandising
machine always thunders full speed ahead in the weeks leading
up to the film’s release, setting the stage for record-breaking
profits.
For Indiana
Jones, the largest and most anticipated element of
the Lucasfilm marketing goliath is the premiere of Hasbro’s
saga-encompassing toy line. Already dominating
the Star Wars toy universe, the natural expectation
is that Hasbro will harness that experience and bring
all of their strengths (and few of their weaknesses)
to this new realm. The question is, though, can
they do it?
Preview
Night aside, this review will be the first of many to analyze
Hasbro’s offerings. Like our hero, we will embark
on our own quest to discover the answer to that question.

Our Price
Guides have been updated for the month of May.
There has been a decent amount of fluctuation from the last
update. For new readers to our site, we process our Guides
manually to ensure they are accurate. The Price Guide team
looks at completed ebay auctions, ebay stores, online retailers
who sell in the secondary market, yahoo auctions as well
as other places on the web. Our very popular Image
Guides are also now integrated into the section.
Some notable items on the rise are the Star Wars BlackHole
Stromtrooper Mini Bust, the AOTC Clone Trooper Mini Bust
and the ANH Vader Mini Bust. From the Star Wars Statue Line
the Cantina Bookends and the Scout Trooper on Speeder Bike
top big jumps. On the other hand, the Jango Fett Chrome Mini
Bust, the Yoda AOTC Mini Bust, the Bib Fortuna Statue and
Senate Guard Statue all took a big dip, so if you have been
looking for them, now is the time to strike.
On the LOTR front, the Mini Busts continue to dip with Balrog,
Elrond and Gandalf all dropping since our last update, placing
most of these Mini Busts in the $10 to $20 range. The Harry
Potter line had a slight surge with most Mini Busts going
up a few bucks, with the exception of the 5th Year Harry
Potter, which has now dropped below $10. For these and all
the other May updates, be sure to check out the Guides!
New from Kotobokiya comes the amazing new Star Wars bounty
hunter series! All of the hunters Darth Vader assembled to
hunt down Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon are here: Boba
Fett, Zuckuss, IG-88, Bossk, 4-LOM, and Dengar! Each stands
approximately 12 inches in scale, is highly detailed and
amazingly painted. As a bonus, each of the six bounty hunters
in the series includes a builder piece that allows you to
assemble the seventh figure in the series, Darth Vader! Each
figure features an hexagonal display base that allows the
figures to interlock in several different ways for multiple
display options. Get on the hunt and snap these up before
they disappear!
Sandi Thom has claimed that her new single
'The Devil's Beat' was inspired by watching the Star Wars
movies. The Scottish solo star revealed that the song's
lyrics are about the lack of balance between the forces of
good and evil
in the world today.
"I wrote the song after watching Star Wars," she
told DS.
"Star Wars is all about the forces of good and evil,
so I started thinking about our world and how we've got good
and evil, the forces of power and money, and the power of love
as well."
She added: "I suppose 'The Devil's Beat' is when the
balance of all these forces is tipped to the wrong side - in
this case, the force of nature."
Thom releases 'The Devil's Beat' on May 19. It is followed
by her sophomore album Pink And The Lily a week later.
With all the video uploading sites that have popped up in
the last few years (youtube, myspace, google) tons of very
cool older Star Wars commercials, clips, home movies and
more have surfaced so we decided to feature some of the better
ones right here.
Click below to check out a commercial that played during
the Holiday Special that starred
C-3PO & R2
D2. It features several great vintage toys like the Radio
Controlled R2-D2 and the Death Stay Playset. It was
uploaded to YouTube.com by a member by the name of daftmahatma
. If you found something out there in cyberespace that you
think we should feature, be sure to let us know!

The

First Theatrical Trailer for Animated STAR
WARS: THE CLONE WARS to Premiere Exclusively Across Multiple
Turner
Networks Thursday, May 8.
Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang All to Showcase
Newest Star Wars Adventure at 7:58 p.m.
Star Wars fans will get an unprecedented look at the newest
intergalactic adventure on Thursday, May 8, when the world-premiere
trailer for the upcoming CG-animated movie Star Wars: The Clone
Wars debuts across five Turner networks simultaneously.
At 7:58 p.m. in all U.S. time zones, Cartoon Network, TNT,
TBS, CNN, and Boomerang will debut an action-packed, two-minute
preview of the animated adventure from creator George Lucas
and Lucasfilm Animation. It marks the first time a theatrical
trailer has received a simultaneous, cross-network airing on
Turner Networks. The trailer debuts in theaters on Friday,
May 9, along with the first poster for the movie. The poster
is available for pre-order exclusively at StarWarsShop. Check
it out here.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars opens in movie theaters Aug. 15.
"By combining the power of the Turner Networks and the
power of the Force, we're able to create a fantastic event
for Star Wars fans of all ages," said Howard Roffman,
vice president of Lucasfilm Ltd. "We're incredibly proud
of The Clone Wars, and eager to be able to showcase it for
the first time in such an exciting way."
The newest tale of adventure, intrigue and excitement in a
galaxy far, far away combines the legendary storytelling of
Lucasfilm and the Star Wars Saga with a signature animation
style from Lucasfilm Animation.
On the front lines of an intergalactic struggle between
good and evil, fans young and old will join such favorite
characters
as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala,
along with brand-new heroes like Anakin's padawan learner,
Ahsoka. Sinister villains -- led by Palpatine, Count Dooku
and General Grievous -- are poised to rule the galaxy. Stakes
are high, and the fate of the Star Wars universe rests in the
hands of the daring Jedi Knights. Their exploits lead to the
action-packed battles and astonishing new revelations that
fill Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The theatrical release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars tells
an all-new story that leads directly in to this fall's premiere
of a weekly, animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television
series on Cartoon Network, followed by airings on TNT.
You can also order the authentic, double-sided

Review:
Commander Gree Helmet (Scaled Replica)
In the era of the Special Editions, Riddell, a company synonymous
with NFL helmets, made its mark on the Star Wars merchandising
universe with a small line of scaled helmet replicas. At
the time, the quality was at a level commonly seen only with
extremely high-ticket items, but the price was surprisingly
collector friendly. The standout piece was Darth Vader’s
helmet, which could be disassembled into the three parts
and held a slew of accurate details built from a variety
of mixed media. Even the Stormtrooper helmet possessed an
intricately detailed interior that had never been seen on-screen.
Alas, the line did not have a long life span.
That is until the waning years of Master Replicas’ Star
Wars license. The company acquired the old Riddell molds,
re-released them, and then expanded upon the line. Sadly,
their imminent loss of the license meant this renaissance
was fated to end almost as quickly as it had begun. Toward
the end, Master Replicas churned out multiple variants of
the Phase II helmet (i.e. – Episode III version), presumably
to produce a large surge of products as quickly, easily,
and cheaply as possible.
Today’s review gives an in-depth look at the most
unique of the Phase II variants—the scaled replica
of the helmet belonging to the ill-fated Commander Gree.

New
Clone Wars Package Style Hits!
Yodasnews reader Jeff Reports in:
Heads up everyone!! Looks like new Clone Wars type packaging
is starting to show up!!
Popular actor Kenny Baker is back meeting and greeting
fans just weeks after he nearly died on a flight from America.
But despite preparing for another appearance, the 3ft 8in
Star Wars film hero insists he is taking life easier.
The 73-year-old, who spent two weeks in a Manchester hospital
suffering breathing difficulties, spoke to the Lancashire
Evening Post ahead of a trip to Milton Keynes.
Kenny, of Mulgrave Avenue, Ashton, said: "I'm a
bit shaky and my legs are a bit weak, but I'm breathing
much
better and feel a lot more lively.
"I'm going to one day of a four-day event called
Memorabilia where I'll sign autographs.
"I chat to Star Wars fans and see old mates like
Rusty Goffe who I was in the film Willow with."
Kenny became a star playing lovable droid R2-D2 and makes
his money by visiting conventions, signing autographs.
The grandfather-of-six was on his way back from a two-week
working holiday in Pittsburgh in the US when he fell ill.
News of Kenny's illness quickly spread around the world,
particularly in America where Kenny has a hardcore following
of sci-fi fans.
He said: "It's amazing how much response I have
had from around the world. I even made it onto CNN.
"I was going to the shops the other day and all
these cars were tooting at me."
Kenny admits he is now wary of flying and says he is more
likely to stay at home driving his burgundy Mercedes.
He said: "It's a lovely wine colour but I've not
had chance to use it much. And I'm going to get out in
the back
garden and do some sunbathing."

Science Meets Imagination: Philadelphia Final Weekend!
UPDATE: This is the last weekend to see this great display
in Philadelphia! Its next stop starts on June 14th at the
Science Musuem of Minnesota.
For the past few years, Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination
has been a traveling exhibit, touching down for several month
stretches at various museums across the country. A combination
of pieces of real world technology and artifacts from the
Lucasfilm Archives, the exhibit explores the relationship
between science and science fiction.
In March, Yodasnews was proud to present a three part article
covering Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination on its
opening day at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia.
Packed with over 150 pictures, this diary-style article covers
the exhibit as experienced by our resident reviewer and graphic
designer Jeff Gouse.
In case you missed this jam-packed article in its serialized
form, we are pleased to present the article in its entirety

The
Falcon Lands on LOST!
Fans of the TV Show LOST got a happy little Star
Wars surprise this week when a Millennium Falcon toy appeared
on the latest episode of LOST. During this week's episode Jack
steps on a small Millennium Falcon toy (possibly the Micro
Machines version) and the word around the LOST message boards
is that the reason the writers included this specific toy,
is to show a comparison of Luke Skywalker (who we all know
was raised by his
uncle)
to
Jack (who is starting to raise Aaron, who he is techncally
the uncle of but no one knows but him).
In addition to that,
Jack and Clarie are brother and sister on the show, but like Luke and Leia,
at this
time
they
do not
know they are related. If the writers actually digged this
deep for the 2 seconds of the show, we may never know, but it
has fans of both Star Wars and LOST wondering.
StylinOnline.com has
just about any T-Shirt you can thing of! They carry just about
every line from Star Wars, to Indiana Jones, Star Trek, Family
Guy, Iron Man, HULK, Transformers, Halo 3 and so many more.
If you can't find what you are looking for there, it probably
does
not exist!
Stylin Online is your number one source for T
Shirts and Pop Culture clothing. They also carry funny, pop
culture, retro, 80s tees, vintage, comic book, music, superhero
- all
kinds of T-shirts, hoodies,
jerseys, big sizes, hats, shop, vintage, comic book, sweatshirts,
button down and more! Be sure to check them out today!

DCSWCC
HOSTS STAR WARS ROADSHOW 3!
The Washington DC Metro Area Star Wars Collecting
Club (DCSWCC) will hold the third semi-annual Star Wars Roadshow
on Saturday, May 3rd from
1:30pm to 4:30pm at the West County Public Library in Odenton
Maryland.
Scour the attic! Clean out the basement! Dump out the toybox!
Bring your Star Wars stuff – old or new – to the
Star Wars Roadshow for an expert analysis and appraisal. Meet
Jedi, Stormtroopers, and maybe even Darth
Vader himself! Free give-aways and door prizes!
Local experts on Star Wars collectibles will be on hand to
evaluate items brought to the event, much like the
famous “Antiques Roadshow” on PBS. Do you have
an old Star Wars toy lying around, some old comic books,
cards and stickers, or any other interesting or unique piece
of Star Wars history? If so, clean out those attics and
bring your Star Wars toys and collectibles.
DCSWCC members will also be displaying various items from
their collections, so come join the fun. For more information,
visit the club’s website at http://www.dcswcc.org
Hasbro's
Star Wars site has
updated with both boxed and loose images of Toys R Us Exclusive
Hoth Patrol and STAP Attack battle packs. While these are
largely reissues (even the pilot Battle Droids on the STAPs are
a repaint of the battle droid mold, or an upgrade to the E1
pilot Battle Droids, depending how you look at it), there still
worth a look, and the STAPs especially have some very nice
packaging.
Check it out here.
