Star Wars Fans' Choice Reminder - Final Days!
The official
Hasbro Star Wars Fans' Choice Poll is now live on Star
Wars Insider's website! Fans can vote for their favorite character
from among the Top 20 vote-getters from last month's open
polling on Star Wars fan sites. The winning figure will be
included in Hasbro’s Star Wars action figure line in
2013, in time for the 30th anniversary of Return Of The Jedi.
Voting is open on the Star
Wars Insider website until December 1st. The winning character
will be announced at Hasbro’s 2012 Collector-Fan Media
Day event at Toy Fair in New York in February 2012.

Last week, we posted a video
review of the LEGO® Star Wars® Character Encyclopedia,
and today we are letting you know who won the 3 copies of the
book. The three winners are:

Here it is! This is your opportunity to own a rare, unique
piece of Star Wars memorabilia. Please be aware that there are
two auctions for two different autographed Clone helmets. One
is the Republic Commando helmet and the other is the Clone Trooper
helmet.
The Clone Trooper helmet was created for Stephen Stanton,
the voice of Captain Tarkin in Star Wars: The Clone Wars series
to take with him to Star Wars Fan Days 2011 in Dallas to collect
donations for “Princess Leah”. It was handmade and
donated by Nick Bishop and the members of his Thylacine Squad
of the 501st in Tasmania.
Currently almost 50 Star Wars actors, directors, editors,
writers, artists and more have signed the helmet. Even a future
Hall of Fame baseball player! To document and authenticate the
signatures, a photograph was taken of each person signing the
helmet. These photos are being made into a collage poster (see
photo below) which is part of the auction.
100% of the profits on this auction will go to the Esquenazi
family. Baby Leah Esquenazi and her parents, Zev and Frani, have
spent most of the last 9 months in the PICU at UCLA hospital.
“Princess Leah” as she has come to be known in the
Star Wars community. Some of the signers are:
Seth Green, Peter Mayhew, Angie Mayhew, Ashley Eckstein,
Dave Eckstein, Ben Burtt, Tom Kane, Dave Dorman, Dave Filoni,

of Obi-wan, Yoda and Anakin have been revised to include the younger

Celebration
VI Fan Table Applications Open!
There will be a limited number of fan club tables
available at Celebration VI for unofficial, local, and regional
fan clubs and similar fan organizations. These tables will allow
the clubs to promote their organizations to other Star Wars fans
and to act as a central location for club activities at Celebration
VI.
Clubs that qualify will be supplied with an 8-foot table, two
chairs, one standard electrical outlet, and a space approximately
10–feet wide by 10-feet deep. Clubs will be asked to make
specific arrangements with the facility or the official decorator
for additional utilities or other equipment at the prevailing
rate. The fan table locations are yet to be determined, but it
is likely they will once again be part of the Celebration Experience
Exhibit Hall.
Fan group tables must be staffed by at least one person who represents
the club at all times during the hours that the hall is open.

FX Luke Saber $68.99 Shipped? Not so Fast!
UPDATE: Regarding the Amazon Force
FX Luke Skywalker Lightsaber from November 11th for $68 shipped.
It was not what it seemed to be. Several readers (and thank you
Frank, Anette and John for letting us know) got them yesterday
and they are shipping the $30 Hasbro Ultimate FX saber for the
$68 they paid and not the FX Saber! Amazon has
now frozen the sale of the items and by the looks of the comments
on the page, dozens and dozens of people did not get what they
were looking for.
**Please note, the links have been changing almost
by the minute and some are now going to legit sabers and dealers
(like YNs sponsors BBTS and Redford) - It appears this was not
isolated to just one seller, but could have been something with
Amazon's index system and not the sellers of the items- We just
wanted that to be clear so that readers did not think it was something
legit good sellers showing up now when you click the links were

Actor James Earl Jones has received an honorary
Oscar on the London stage, to the surprise of his matinee audience.
Jones, currently starring opposite Vanessa Redgrave in Driving
Miss Daisy - said he was "plain gobsmacked" as he accepted
the award.
The 80-year-old was presented with his Oscar on stage by
Sir Ben Kingsley. Jones, whose film credits include Patriot Games
and The Hunt for Red October, remains best known as the voice
of Darth Vader in Star Wars.
The honour formed part of the 3rd annual Governors Awards,
which also saw chat show queen Oprah Winfrey and make-up artist
Dick Smith receive honorary awards.

Hasbro Star Wars Q&A Answers!
You asked us and we asked Hasbro, check out the
latest round of Questions and Answers we sent along to Hasbro:
YN: Will we see another round of Geonosis Arena
2-packs in the next couple of years?
H: We realize that there are still quite
a few Jedi with screen time, but there are no current plans for
this.
YN: Just a few months after he debuted on The Clone
Wars, Hasbro released a Chewbacca action figure. We know it takes
a year or so to go from concept to retail, so you must be working
very closely with the animation team. I think a lot of collectors
would enjoy some insight as to the process of developing new characters
from the series who haven't been seen by the public yet. Does
Hasbro get to see everything in the works and decide who gets
the plastic treatment, or do you get a list of characters suggested
by Lucasfilm? How far in advance do you start working on items
like that?
H: We work closely with our partners
at Lucasfilm and we usually kick off figure development well over
a year in advance of entertainment hitting the big or small screen.
We first see scripts and then concept art, and throughout this
review process we stay in close contact with Lucasfilm to select
the major characters from key story arcs.

You Jeff Gouse...Want His Job?
For the last seven years, Yodasnews has been blessed
with dedicated staff here that has volunteered their time purely
for the love of the hobby.
One of our staples over the last five years has been Jeff Gouse,
who has brought you tons of amazing in-depth reviews. His unique
style and way with words made his reviews stand out from the average
“quickie” review. These were not simply something
he slapped together overnight, but rather they were works that
he spent days—sometimes even weeks—writing and photographing.
But life is full of seasons, and seasons change. For Jeff, this
season has passed, and he’s come to a time in his life to
move on from doing reviews (although he will remain on staff for
graphics, news, and the occasional special project).
Nevertheless, it is with great sadness that I’m announcing
that we are looking for someone to take Jeff’s place as
PRODUCT REVIEWER. This staff member’s main focus will be
to review STAR WARS collectibles of all types with a heavy emphasis
on Hasbro’s product lines.
The ideal candidate will consistently provide honest, unbiased
commentary as well as good quality pictures of said products.

Spotlight on Geeks for Tots
A great contest is back again this year, sporting a brand new name and offering some fantastic prizes. Many of you no doubt remember Joes for Tots from a couple of years ago, and it's back for 2011 as Geeks for Tots. Yodasnews sat down with Vincent from Robot's Pajamas to talk about the inspirational contest that rewards geeks for giving to Toys For Tots. We really want to encourage all our wonderful readers to participate in this year's Toys For Tots campaign and "the nerdiest toy drive on the internet," because we know there's no other fandom out there as generous as the STAR WARS fan community!
YN: It's great to have this chance to talk, Vincent. Before we really get started, can you share a little information about yourself and your collecting hobby with our readers?
V: Well for my day job I'm a corporate drone. In my spare time I'm another voice on the internet begging for attention. I used to have a blog called Toy Bender which seemed to be pretty popular, but after that died I decided to delve into general geekery on TheRobotsPajamas.com. I also spend way too much time on Twitter.
I got into collecting basically because I was a nerd and I think I was never able to get past the fond memories I had of playing with toys. For me, most of my good childhood memories revolved around toys in some fashion, either playing with Captain Power stuff by myself or having massive G.I. Joe battles with friends. I'm really a nostalgia based collector. If it reminds me of my past, I'm all about it.
I think I officially started "collecting" in high school and I officially became an insane collector when Kenner's Star Wars Power of the Force 2 line came out. I've switched my focus at times from Star Wars to G.I. Joe to lots of various other smaller lines (my Starcom collection is now nearly complete), but at the moment I've backed off a bit on the whole scene of buying modern stuff. I've been trying to focus more on getting classic toys. Someday I hope to have a nice carded collection of Super Powers figures.
YN: How did Geeks For Tots come about, and how long have you been doing it?
V: Geeks for Tots came about three years ago. The original idea was to encourage collectors to buy more G.I. Joe figures. This was back when the Joes' 25th anniversary was strong and I was really into it. I figured if more kids got their hands on Joes, they might have a fondness for them like I had. Of course, donations were open for all sorts of toys, but the original seed of the idea was to get Joes into the hands of kids. That strange seed of an idea turned into a straight up desire to want to help kids in a really fun way.
I ran the contest for two years and then because of personal reasons I skipped 2010. I brought it back this year due to popular demand and the fact the economy blows. I figure more kids than ever would probably need the help this holiday season.
George Lucas, creator
of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, has given artist Ron Suchiu permission
to paint and produce limited edition prints using any of the characters
that Lucas has ever created. George has generously agreed to personally
sign each limited edition print. Proceeds from them will go to aid
the Jane Goodall Institute ...
... so that she may carry on with her decades of
wonderful humanitarian efforts.

Vader To Star in Dixons Retail’s Ad Campaign
Dixons Retail, the UK’s leading electrical retailer,
has today announced plans for a massive multi-million pound marketing
campaign in another exclusive partnership with Lucasfilm. Starring
the formidable Darth Vader, the campaign highlights the outstanding
in-store customer service experience that Currys and PC World
has been working hard to deliver.
The 40” advert breaks on Saturday 5th November during
the X-Factor on ITV1 and will run for three weeks during primetime
TV across terrestrial and digital channels. The ad will be supported
by online advertising, as well as in-store activity, POS, social
media, CRM and PR, and follows the success of last year’s
campaign which featured Star Wars favourites C3PO and R2D2 browsing
a Megastore.
This year, the advert focuses on the great service customers
can expect at Currys and PC World. All 14,000 Currys and PC World
store staff are continually trained to offer customers great service,
ensuring they can help customers find exactly what they need.
This confirms its commitment to delivering a better experience
to customers.

I stopped in Target last night and the Ultimate FX Lightsabers
are on sale for $29.99 until later this month (sale is longer
than just the week). But there's also a coupon book for toys that
has a $5 coupon in it for the UFX sabers. So, I'm assuming that
you can stack the coupon on to the $5 sale price you're already
getting which brings them down to $24.99.
That would not be a bad price for these since the plastic
electronic sabers are about that price also. I found the coupon
book in the toy aisle in a small cardboard display box sitting
on the 3-way blue end cap display. You might be able to get them
at customer service also, I didn't look up front. There were also
$5 coupons in the book for the KRE-O and the DOTM Ultimate Optimus
Prime toys.
