As far as I can tell, this figure is a straight repack.

I've been saying this for awhile now: this helmet is non-removeable. We've never seen it off. Not once.

you know, after considering that new rex even though it doesn't have the play value (articulation) that I am accustomed to and love, I might pick it up just for the fact that it looks awesome.. Still will be waiting for the next version however...

I came across a really cool tip over at Rebelscum yesterday: swap out the forearms of the 2011 and 2012 versions of Obi-Wan. That way, you can get the much-needed wrist articulation that Hasbro saw fit to overlook on this new (and excellent, I might add) figure.

So, with my wife's trusty hair dryer in hand (I'm bald - why would I need a hair dryer, you might perspicaciously ask?), I undertook the delicate procedure in my state-of-the-art Action Figure Operating Room (i.e., the bathroom). The procedure went by the book, and the 2012 Obi-Wan (my preferred sculpt) now has the wrist articulation he so lovingly deserves; and the figure looks as though he came right out of the package with those swapped forearms. After cooling, the joints tightened up, and Obi-Wan is ready for action!

The older Obi-Wan did not fare so well. He was left with fairly loose arm joints. But since I plan on donating this older figure to a grandma at work, I am not sweating it.

Don't you just love it when a good plan comes together?
