Embarassed

the one with the rotary blaster? I thought they hadn't assigned a line for that yet?!

That's the one. It was released on the Yoda card in Europe and Canada. There are collectors in the UK already reporting finding the wave at retail. It's also been found at retail in the Philippines. This wave is just not going to be released in the U.S. I bought it on eBay from a Canadian seller.

From what I have heard, some are repacks (R2-D2, Darth Maul, Savage Opress, Commander Cody) and some are retools (Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Captain Rex, Battle Droid) and some are repaints (501st Clone Trooper).

That would require me to make a trip to TRU, specifically to look for discounted TCW figures, which is not something I make a habit of doing these days. But I do go to Target several times per week, mostly to get groceries, etc. And that's when I run the toy aisle to see what's what. I have recently decided to grab extras of army builders, so I picked up a clone trooper, and now an Aqua Droid. I'm willing to pay full price, since I'm willing to reward Hasbro and Target for putting out a product I value (but that's not to say I wouldn't buy it on clearance if that is what Target chose to do). It's just an issue of convenience, I guess.

Yeah, I have him. Is he worth $30? He is to me.

But I would remiss if I didn't point out both the positives and the negatives. The positives: his upper legs are thicker, and more closely resemble those used on the standard clone trooper offered in the 2012 line-up. I really like this, since the legs on the 2012 Rex are just too damn scrawny (and that goes for Wolffe and Fox, too). Also, his big bucket just seems to look better on this version. And the biggest improvement are the knee joints. That really makes this the superior version, hands down. Lastly, the rotary cannon is just badass. This weapon really makes me wish we got a figure of Hardcase in his phase 2 armor. The negatives: just like the 2012 version, the helmet won't sit straight on the figure because of the presence of the pauldron. In addition, the hash marks seen on the forearms of the 2012 version are saliently absent on this newer version. That really sucks. And, again, no wrist articulation. And lastly, the 2013 version does not have that dirty wash seen on the 2012 version. Not sure if that is a positive or negative. Personal taste, I guess.

captain rex 2013 $26 shipped off amazon!

EDIT: received it today... package was lsightly opened just enough for the seller to remove the character card and the stand. I see no point as to why, but I have the figure in nice shape so I am fine with it. This rex is amazing, a definite improvement in my opinion. the rotary cannon is smaller than i expected and more in scale, it is beautiful!

Has anyone found any of these supposed kmart vehicle two packs that are selling for $15 a piece (per 2 pack). I'd love to get a torrent and mobile cannon pack, but my kmart is barren..

Funny you should mention it. Today I awoke at 4 am, left my humble home at 5am and drove over mountains for a day-long visit in the great muddy bog that I used to call home.

I visited a bunch of Fred Meyer stores, a Toys R Us, and made a mercifully brief trek into the land of the great unwashed (Walmart).

My haul for the day consisted of the following:

That catches me up with all of the current sets apart from the MMT, the Sandcrawler, and the Ewok Village.

I also stopped at four Kmart stores (also somewhat unwashed) in hopes of scoring some of the rehashed Shadow Of The Darkside vehicle two-packs from years past. Specifically I was hoping to find one with the Jedi Turbo Speeder and one with that Mandalorian flying bus thing, both of which I missed out on every previous time they were in stores. Annoyingly, I found nothing. In fact, I didnít see much in the way of Star Wars at any of the Kmarts I went in. Although, one had automotive floor mats with Darth Vaderís face on them. Donít need that. Donít want that. Won't buy that.

Anyway, I havenít seen anything about this on the YN homepage and only happened upon it from another site (that will go unmentioned for CCís sake) the night before I left. The short of it is that some chain called Ollies is selling them (officially as of Sep. 18th) for $19.99 and Kmart has them for $14.99. Either is a fantastic deal considering you get two ships for that price - any one of which would be better than the dreck Hasbro currently has in it's overpriced vehicle line.

The combinations I've heard about are as follows:

    * Bespin Cloud Car / Luke Skywalker's Snowspeeder
    * Jedi Turbo Speeder / Plo Koonís Jedi Starfighter
    * Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter / Luke Skywalker' Snowspeeder
    * Anakin's Jedi Starfighter / Mandalorian Assault Transport
    * AT-AP (All Terrain Attack Pod) / Republic Swamp Speeder
    * Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter / Cad Bane's Xanadu Blood
    * Cad Bane's Xanadu Blood / Vulture Droid
    * Republic AV-7 Mobile Cannon / Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter
    * Republic V-19 Torrent Starfighter / Separatist Droid Gunship

Apparently they are going fast, which means I'll likedly miss out again as there are no Kmarts within 120 miles of my house.

Regardless, it was one of the least stressful trips to the valley that I've ever made - despite the fact that I took no less than 6 wrong turns during the course of the journey. Bugger! I even saw Darth Plagueis The Skinny swinging from a peg at the last Fred Meyer I went to. I left him, as I can no longer afford to collect Hasbro (though I would have happily made an exception for the Turbo Speeder and Mando Bus 2-packs).

After that, I sauntered across the parking lot to Subway for my only meal of the day. And as I devoured my sub, I was delighted to hear my first musical love on their radio followed immediately by my ultimate truest love. Somehow that made things alright.

And, well, there you have it.

I only saw the Turbo Speeder once, and I didn't grab it at the time. I'd love to get my hands on one, but probably not enough to drive to the suburbs on the east side of the city, which is my nearest Ollie's (a great store for toy deals, but it's a looooooooong drive).
